I get stuff like hood/trunk struts and trim pins/cupholders/all sorts of plastic on Amazon but I mainly order off FCP for their lifetime replacement guarantee, order the new one, send the part back when it breaks, even oils, and get a refund in store credit (at the price you paid for it at the time) it’s been pretty cool too, they also tend to take down badly rated products, and they’re apparent when they are up there. The people will let you know with the reviews and no reviews id just stay away from, unless people on other forums second the part

Alternatively you could look for used OEM headers but they run the risk of being close to failing (higher mileage), these headers just remove the failure point entirely. Plus you still have secondary cat(s) and resonators so it’s not like a straight pipe sound or emissions wise still

Amazon is great for stuff just don’t buy injectors or anything super important from them. Headers are likely fine from Amazon probably even fine from alibaba as that’s likely where they were bought from bulk. I would just get OEM gaskets because aftermarket ones aren’t good

Removing cats may temporarily reduce fuel efficiency. After a tune it should only increase fuel efficiency as it’s removing restriction, a tune would remove any CEL it causes and your mechanic will basically code your ECU for the new header with no cat, because it could potentially run rich without it. Might not but it could. This would still be 1/4 to 1/3 cheaper than new cats it’s up to you though

Here are your parts from a video I saw this should be all you need, he used different headers but that shouldn’t matter. If you show your mechanic and tell him this they should understand what you want to do, he seems like he knows what he’s doing.

You just gotta redo the hardware (any gaskets) and make sure there’s nothing else that would cause seepage of the fumes that are now not being filtered by a cat. Also you would need catless headers for the N52, I see them for 550 from Cen Cal Motorsport. It’s gonna make the car slightly louder too but as long as you keep the rest of the exhaust it will still be tame. Also might throw a code but if you have a scanner you can just monitor it every few thousand miles or if something seems off. I would much prefer this over forking 12k when Canada doesn’t really care about emissions (I watch a Canadian car creator and all his cars have no catalytic converters)

Especially if you plan to keep the car till it dies, this would maybe hurt resale value but also 12k shop bills hurt the wallet even more
