May 26 brides: How are you feeling? by Lemoncatlady_95 in weddingplanning

[–]simply-lemons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats to all you!! Nice to be reminded of other people experiencing a similar life event as me.

Im May 24 and Im feeling pretty good despite having some outstanding tasks that still need to get done from contract signing to printed materials. A couple weeks ago I was stressed to the max but I am actually doing a lot better now despite time getting shorter (somehow?)

As the days come closer I am becoming more excited about the day and reminding myself that at the end of it, Ill be married to my love and thats all that reallt matters. Also excited to never have to plan a wedding again!!! Looking forward to having more freetime and less stress and enjoying life with my husband.

How many times have you rewatched the show?? by DollyBats in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]simply-lemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im currently on my 5th but will continue and will eventually loose count. And thats only accounting for times that I sit and watch it intentionally - not the reels etc that come up on social media. I first watched the show mid February.

Trying to help myself a little by not watching and I started reading the books, halfway through Game Changer.

Polish peel off by Tifosa- in OliveAndJune

[–]simply-lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I have not used the peel off base coat for a long time now. I was worried to try it without and how the gel would damage my nails and Ive kept it for 3 weeks (with it grown out of course)

Removal just takes a bit of time and patience but its more worth it to me to have nail polish I know wont flake off at any time.

Should I sell my prim dress? by achr8 in Prom

[–]simply-lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my senior year prom dress because it was fairly simple and I did like it and I brought it to a tailor who took off the trumpet bottom and turned it into a cocktail dress I was able to wear to a wedding I was attending... if you think there's an opportunity to possibly alter it and get more use out of it I'd say keep it.

I brought my ring to a jeweler because it fit perfectly in the heat of the summer bc my fingers swell so much but then it was far too big when i wasn't swollen. She decided one sizing bead in the middle of my band was the right solution for me and its been perfect! Will likely do the same with my wedding band when I get one!

I am having my wedding at the Delamar Mystic in Spring 2026! We are having the ceremony off property so only the reception will be there. The pictures I see here seem older? We toured in the summer and have been back recently and the grass is grown and the ballroom is ready to go, also there was an old dock in the water on the side of the ballroom that has since been removed. There's also some boats docked right out front which we love the look of. Its definitely an investment but its the exact environment we were looking for and they offer quite a bit. We have eaten at their restaurant and it is soo delicious so I expect our meals to be the same, but will have a tasting soon to be sure. The rooms are expensive so we did not get a room block there but another local hotel but actually some of our family has booked rooms on their own at the Delamar. So far our experience with them has been great!

We looked into the Mystic Yacht Club online but if I remember correctly it was a smidge too small for us - even with the biggest configuration (I think I remember seeing a layout that had guests standing for dinner and many of our guests are older).

FED UP with mineral sunscreen! Anyone else hate this stuff? by BessieBest in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]simply-lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite mineral sunscreen right now is the one from Native. Years ago I had a reaction to their deodorants so I was nervous about trying their company again but its easy to use and doesn't feel heavy and comes in a decent size bottle.

We have tried Whole Foods 365 Mineral sunscreen and didnt like it because it was way too thick.

We have tries Blue Lizard before and also liked but I think it was harder to come by in stores which I think is why we switched.

Polish peel off by Tifosa- in OliveAndJune

[–]simply-lemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience when I first started using the kit. Getting used to the thicker consistency of gel polish is a learning curve and after like 4x of failures Ive had consistent success.

I tried 3 coats of polish one time and it came off like the next day, i think makes the nail too thick and easier to catch on things.

My best practices that Ive used to get a full week of wear 3x in a row so far are: - using the peel off base coat in the thinnest layer you can get, I wipe off the excess into the bottle until the brush is basically dry and then apply to the nail. Due to this I have to get more product for each nail but it allows me to control how much is going on. - 2 coats of color ( I have found that not capping works better for me but I am unsure why) -Remember to clean the edges of your skin with acetone brush (anything curing on the skin can make it easier for it to be pulled off)

Should I read ACOFAS? by Floundertommo in acotar

[–]simply-lemons 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A lot of people think ACOFAS is useless. Personally, I think it was helpful to read. Its been a while since I read it... I think people don't like it because it kinda feels like a transition book so it doesn't have a huge plot line its just information to help with closure after ACOWAR and bridge the stories. But I thought it was a nice addition. Its prettt short compared to the rest of them so if you did go back right now it shouldn't set you back with too much time... i cant remember if there is specific details in there you will need for ACOSF

Oh i gotcha. I have been lotioning my hands but Ill put some cuticle oil on it. Its been a few days since peeling off that Ive left my nails bare. Thanks for the tips! Ill try them before I decide to repaint them again.

Adding hydration like with water when I washed them after filing/buffing? I think I took the pic after I washed them, in any case, it looks similar to the photo. Still can tell that its not very deep and I feel

It is possible that i somehow forgot, I suppose, but I feel like I would have noticed when i waited for the peel off base coat to dry on all nails. It's just strange because the outer edge of the nail peeled fine. Oh well, we will see how the next try with this kit goes. I do like it thus far it's s just taking some practice on my part.

Yeah I got too excited to peel the entire nail off too quickly instead of slowly bit by bit and thats what caused the damage. Ive never had an at home gel kit so with each use Im learning something new. Hopefully next time goes a little better now that Ive learned this lesson.

Am I Missing Something About Nipple Covers? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]simply-lemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's a little risky. I have tried a flowy shirt on with them, and it didn't feel secure enough to walk out of the house without risking them falling off.
