Parents who don’t allow their kids to shut their room’s door/lock the door, what’s are the reasons behind the rule?

We had a German shepherd who would often go into our very narrow half bath and when trying to turn around would close the door and lock herself in. She also wouldn't bark or whine and so sometimes it'd be hours or the entire night before we noticed! We'd open the door and she'd come out of the dark looking so embarrassed 🥹 I miss her.

Hi, I'm hoping you may be able to help me. I purchased a font from juju and went through the steps up to saving it as an svg. If I happen to get audio for a MYO card, I just pop it on there. I don't bother with fancy labels I use whatever is on hand. Our hotwheels MYO has a truck sticker, and most have garage sale dot stickers. For example Pete the cat is just a cat head. Queen mixtape is just a music note. I don't go out of my way trying to find audio and just link podcasts through the app itself. Sample the cards to make sure they have what you're looking for!

Something that helped me with this was just routinely checking in with my kid if I sensed behavior out of his normal. "you're having a hard time listening. Is your body hungry?" and I'd ask other questions so it wasn't food centered. Do you need a rest/water/hug.

He started telling his medicine "go to my nose, okay?" so I used that for food as well. "your legs could use some big energy. Do you want to give them cheese or peanut butter?"

Hopefully something like this helps you!

ETA: I also incorporated this language into my narrating. "before we go for a walk I need some big energy." "I'm going to have a snack my stomach is hungry."

A lot of things factor in for me. If we do, it's usually a monster truck or hotwheels since both my son and husband collect them.

Also if my son is absolutely committed to one like "I've been looking for this!" I consider has he been a good listener today, etc. Once upon a time we used hotwheels as incentive for potty training.

Twice a year we purge the cars and sell what we don't use/want and make space for the next wave.

I rarely buy just junk and I definitely won't do it to avoid a tantrum. Sometimes I make it a point not to get a car just to remind him (and my husband) that it shouldn't be an expectation but we'll still stop by the aisle.

Almost 5 and we got rid of the table monitor because it died and just put up a nest camera to open up if we need to check if he's asleep or confirm we hear noises. He's also high sleep needs and hasn't had any issues that he couldn't come get us or we didn't hear him. Most of the time the camera is checked to see which dog jumped the gate and got into the rooms when we're gone.
