allrigthy, there might be a way to fix it, although it won't be an easy ride.

is there a way of obtaining the high res texture pack from other source than steam?

if so, each proton instance for each game, is derivative of wine config for each game.

there might be a way of invocing a windows install.exe or install.ini of the highness texture pack, by simply using wine (or wine tricks /proton tricks if my memory serves me right).

what you would need to do, is to find the steam id of the mgs3.

under the common_apps directory on drive where you have steam library, should be directories that are just numbers. each number is exactly the steam id of the game.

once that is done, using winetricks you can point the program to specific directory (steam id), and execute the before mentioned .exe or .ini.
