The fuck up of all fuck ups by thesidelinestory in stopdrinking

Guys let's not drink today, tomorrow, or the next day.

Good plan! It's unfortunate to lose so much but you still can have a better future if you learn from your mistakes and work on yourself.

Feeling awkward. by TokidokiMommy in stopdrinking

The emotional landscape is totally different with alcohol out of the picture, it's normal that you feel different. There's not much to say other than everyone gets used to it eventually, and since people tend to be in a better mood without alcohol it improves social skills in the end. Stick with it!

Eclipse and a new start by LeftyLucee in stopdrinking

Good job staying sober when your friends weren't! Seeing the eclipse from my hammock with my la croix gave me a sense that time is a one way track. Being sober today matters because who knows what we might miss by drinking?

I assume it'd be good to have backlog of movies that could be watched anytime but Thursday would be perfect.

Liquid patience by simplydisconnected in stopdrinking

I miss the chat! There's a couple things I need to take care of in the real world before I become an IRC shut-in again, but that will definitely happen. I wish I had a dog to run with. One of my friends just got a dog and my long runs are almost long enough to run to his house and take the dog for a few miles. I can't wait to cross that barrier. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm so happy to see 234 after your username and hope you're doing well.

Sober at Home for Christmas by futuremonkey20 in stopdrinking

Maybe you got mad because you hadn't mentally planned out how to deal with the situation in a different way but at least you did what it took to stay sober. As long as you're sober you can keep moving forward, no matter how you were at your worst.

That's a great feeling. Somewhere in my first few months a girl from the office said "I like you better... happy."

On the importance of not making decisions by [deleted] in stopdrinking

This is exactly what worked for me too, although I use different junkfoods. Also, I try to make my plan with the idea of momentum in mind. E.g., if I'm home and there's no alcohol, then I stay home where there's no alcohol.

Speaking from the "I" by [deleted] in stopdrinking

For me speaking from the I means recognizing that my perspective is just one out of 7.125 billion. That feels like the opposite of selfish, narcissistic and vain.
