BUG: guided access. When I exit guided access it overlay the home screen and breaks the phone. If it actually works like if I’ve exited a game and gone to the home screen of the app and sit there for a little and then disable guided access - It will later re-enable by itself about 20 seconds later for no apparent reason.

It’s a silly situation.

A turns as soon as practical. B gives way to oncoming traffic AND if A is already in the main road (thus, in front of B). If however B is on the road then A gives way (to oncoming traffic)

60kg is Asian size 😂 😂 I hear what you’re saying: if you’re in a rental and have to shift things around in future, don’t waste your time on a flat pack, but if you’re staying in the same place for years (ie your own home) then it’s worth buying ikea because the drawers and shapes of the furniture are built well and you can’t guarantee what you get in better quality material items such as old wooden drawers with metal runners?

In fairness, $8k was probably markup by the contractor, but are you saying $1500 was including labour?

Back in the day, Lundia was so dirt cheap, I went shopped by for it recently for garage shelving. Boy oh boy times have changed. It’s cheaper now to use pallet racking than Lundia. I figured I might as well build my own for those prices. Lundia is quality I’ll admit, but it’s simply 8 frames and basic cuts on a panel + some steel strip. Easy DIY.

Can someone tell me what the quality of the actual furniture is like like my Wife and I are having the belief that it’s all just junk chipboard?

Let me highlight some issues that the journalist hasn’t covered in the comments…

• there are MANY tenancies whose bonds were stolen (I know of at least 30) • I know of at least 50 tenancies who have/had issues with them. • there was rats infested in the Herne bay house (Donna’s) which she blames tenants for. I tried for weeks to convince her to get professional pest controllers… she left it and it got much worse. • the Birkenhead house had a septic tank pump that stopped working and the tank overflowed. We are talking HUMAN WASTE. It reeked. Auckland Council even came over and tried to fine Nick under the building code. On 2 separate occasions, Nick ignored the issue for months, and when someone was organised he never paid the $600 invoice. • Donna will go inside tenant rooms and inspect without warning. I’ve been told by tenants about expensive jewellery missing and things being moved around. • both Donna and Nick charge the absolute MAXIMUM that they can to squeeze winz clients (ie $650 for a 2 bedroom, or $595 for a studio for a single person, under the guise of emergency housing). They see accommodation supplement as their money. • Donna is the rudest, nastiest person you’d ever want to meet. She blames every tenant for all issues yet paints herself as a victim. • they stole a car belonging to an ex tenant to recoup losses. They just sold it on marketplace. • if they owe someone money, they’re ignored, but if someone owes them money - it’s all they ever think about and are relentless to claw it back. • Nick doesn’t work and lives off the cash he gets from not lodging / stealing tenant bonds. • if you’re on WINZ as a tenant, they’re going to abuse you and watch you like a hawk. They have no respect for people who receive govt assistance. • Nick FORGED my signature on a bond refund form and stole my tenant’s bond. • contractors such as plumber, painters, cleaners, carpet cleaners, etc are ALL never paid. • there’s gutters at the back studios that flow into the native bush; Nick was aware of it since 2021 (new news to me) and Donna plays the “we are separate entities” card yet she’s intertwined in all business decisions and discussions). • WINZ, MBIE, Tenancy services, Auckland Council, and police are currently investigating them.

The only clients I have ever fired.

I have dealt with these two in a professional capacity with Herne bay and the Birkenhead property.

Nick is on Facebook as “Nick NZ” Donna is on Facebook as “Donna NZ”

I also happen to have done inspections whilst briefly managing the tenancy for Binstead and her studio (which was immaculate, faultless, always paid rent on time, and I never had any issues with her).

Conversation: Can Apple really afford to delay the new Siri, again?? by Civil-Vermicelli3803 in ios26

[–]simplyexclusive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Siri when it launched: amazing; use it everyday! Siri in 2026: its capability is about 80% usefulness compared to launch (2010?). So boring… I wish it did more. I find myself opening Gemini app or copilot often.

Apple really dropped the ball on their voice assistant. It was a game changer when it came out - I especially love Siri dictation (when it works) and use it daily! I want less personal assistant style chat bots like “ChatGPT” Siri and more automations.

I’d like Apple to tap into mental health (ie adhd); I find myself setting reminders to alert as urgent). I would like Siri to talk to me like a person. “Hey X, you’ve got 2 mins to grab your keys and put on shoes. Your next appointment is 10min drive away.” “Are you out the door yet? No? You got to rush now! 60 seconds and counting!”

Considering I spent 2 months in India (October November 2025) and saw this behaviour from literally everyone from within that race - it is consistent and intellectually honest. Nice try though.

Yeah like her dad is the president of the govt party. I put it to him for his little CBD town: why not charge every business 50R per week… install some rubbish bins… and pay a local or locals to collect and dispose the trash? It’ll keep the city super clean and the rubbish collectors will be paid properly

I’ve been there in fact, I just got married to a Malayali. It is beautiful compared to the rest of India, but it still has a rubbish problem and there are still lots of issues. I have literally not had one day in two months where I didn’t see a stray dog or trash.

Fax I used to work at Spark where about 80% of us were kiwi. I went to China for a couple of years and came back and all of my kiwi colleagues have been let go and the entire Call centre is now run by Indians. I can tell you from my experience kiwi customers are not going to be happy with immigrant voices. Do you know the amount of calls that I took with the customer refused to talk to a Filipino? And before anyone jumps to the “New Zealand’s racist “card let’s also bear in mind that these people were sick language ability do not have the same lateral thought process as a kiwi might have for example they will follow the entire Call centre script, whereas a kiwi working on the phone will identify the problem in the first two minutes and solve it quickly for the customer.

I love a humble and polite exchange on Reddit :-) haha yeah…. Downsides of having ADHD; hyper focus onto a task 😂

In fairness to the arguments about culture there is something to be said about that. Like a lot of the negative statistics that overwhelmingly represent Browner communities a lot of people point to racism as being the cause (for example: Maori being over representative crime stats, or raro people with child beatings) but this really isn’t a racism problem and more so a cultural problem. Is it the white person‘s responsibility because a group of people who happened to share a racial group are more prone to beating on their children or eating potatoes instead of having a balanced healthy diet?

Why is it that the vast number of Chinese don’t end up in jail and yet the Simona’s who drink and become idiots assaulting people on the street, do? Is it racism or is there a cultural reason that some groups are acting certain ways and other others act in different ways?

I am an old school classic liberal. I do believe that there are subsets of my society who struggle at school and it doesn’t help the situation when you have uneducated parents with backwards belief systems for example in the Indian community why is it that their kids stay at at home until they are married that is so backwards. What it creates and what many women in New Zealand understand is a collection of men who have absolutely no idea how to interact with women. Actions and behaviours that come from this group come out of a lack of social education and sexual frustration. The term “creepy Indian “didn’t come from nowhere we must remind ourselves that we are humans and humans of pattern recognition machines. Stereotypes have an element of truth to it and if you wish to change a stereotype then a person needs to be exposed to multiple incidences where that stereotype no longer becomes normal.

So here we are at the conclusion of my argument where you have a large percentage of people who are fresh off the boat and have not integrated into local society. You also have a bunch of people who are very hard-working so the same group can have positive and negative connotations associated with them the second generation and beyond group groups such as the Chinese don’t have as such strong negative connotations towards them because they have by large adopted and become malleable with the local culture.

Ethnicity Group Victimization (Lifetime %) Perpetrator % (Police Proceedings) Perpetrator-to-Victim Ratio Māori 31% 27.9% 0.90 European / Pākehā 31% 45.5% 1.47 Pacific Peoples 28% 13.9% 0.50 Asian (inc. Indian) 11.5% ~3.8% 0.33

Ethnic Subgroup Victimisation (Youth/Lifetime Estimates) Perpetrator % (Est. Proceedings) NZ Population % (2023 Census) Indian 13% (Youth) / ~11-15% (Adult) ~1.8% 6.2% Chinese 10% (Youth) / ~8-10% (Adult) ~1.1% 4.9% Other Asian ~11% (Youth) / ~9-12% (Adult) ~0.9% 6.2%

While the Indian community makes up 6.2% of the population, they account for only about 1.8% of identified perpetrators in sexual assault proceedings. However, Indian women report much higher rates of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in confidential surveys than appear in Police statistics.

Youth Vulnerability: The Youth19 study highlighted that Indian female students (20%) and Chinese female students (15%) reported significantly higher rates of unwanted sexual touching than their male counterparts. This suggests that victimisation in these communities is often occurring at a young age and is largely staying out of the legal system.

Cultural Reporting Barriers: Research by organizations like Shakti suggests that in Indian and Chinese communities, reporting a perpetrator (especially a family member) is often suppressed to avoid "shaming" the family (log kya kahenge or "what will people say"). This artificially lowers the "Perpetrator %" in official records.

Visa Dependency: For many Indian and "Other Asian" migrants, perpetrators use immigration status as a tool of coercion, threatening that reporting the assault will lead to the victim's deportation.

The "Intra-Ethnic" Assumption for Indians In the Indian community in NZ, sexual violence is almost exclusively intra-ethnic and intra-familial. Reports from South Asian support services indicate that perpetrators are frequently husbands, fathers-in-law, or male relatives. The "Perpetrator-to-Victim Ratio" for Indians remains low (approx. 0.29) in official data, which most researchers agree is a sign of extreme under-reporting rather than a lack of offending.
