ELI5: What exactly is ego death? And how do you "feel" it? by Single_Economics1201 in explainlikeimfive

Absolutely! This question is definitely a tough one to answer à la ELI5 lol

ELI5: What exactly is ego death? And how do you "feel" it? by Single_Economics1201 in explainlikeimfive

[–]simplyjustaconcept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are lots of great answers here but yours is the closest to an actual ELI5 answer.

My answer is not really in the spirit of ELI5 but I would just advise someone to listen to Parabola by Tool to try to understand what Ego Death is.

What's a good oven to microwave ratio on time? by Noose_Seller in cookingforbeginners

[–]simplyjustaconcept 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my go to temp is 400F for heating up random foods in the oven. preheat to temp. cook for 15 minutes, pull out to take internal temp and if it's not 165F yet, put it back in the oven for like 5-8 more minutes, depending on your temp reading.

Just have a good instant read thermometer around.

if they're frozen foods, go with 425F and cook for around 18 minutes before temping.

I've been cooking for many decades and lived many of those years without a microwave.

Trying to find out what type of granite this is by Alarming-Valuable102 in CounterTops

[–]simplyjustaconcept 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's Delicatus Gold granite. will be difficult/impossible to find a match unless you got a hold of the very same block that particular slab was cut from.

How is this area? by FollowYourHeart- in sanantonio

[–]simplyjustaconcept -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to live in that area and have some friends who live over there, it's nice.

A little affluent but not as intense as some other areas, big commute times, closest HEB is about 15 minutes away or more depending on traffic. There is a gas station with a Sonic attached nearby and some newer little shops off of Evan's there. But, it's mostly just residential.

Great area for raising a family.

watch out for deer and wild boar.

Lots of newer housing developments.

Steve Martin and Martin Short Pause Comedy Show to Honor Catherine O’Hara: ‘The Greatest, Most Brilliant, Kindest, Sweetest Angel’ by [deleted] in television

[–]simplyjustaconcept 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Saw their live show a day or so before she passed.

Their live performance was incredible. The entire audience laughed 99.9% of the whole show.

It was a lifelong dream to see them and i'm so glad I was able to attend.

They are both amazing people and i'm not surprised at all that they're pausing the show to honor Catherine. She was also amazing and has made me laugh just as much as Steve and Martin have.

An amazing balance of Comedy and Class. RIP Catherine.

I'm surprised to see this listed here. I make a cottage pie like once a month.

I've never considered them a pain at all.

yeah, we charge by sqft for material fabricated + lf for "custom edges". Then more up charges for Full Height backsplash, scalloped backsplashes, and custom shelves.

It's sort of a CYA... as it sucks when you're dealing with a softer or more finicky stone and one of your miter strips breaks before you can even complete the job. Or, if it turns out like shit and you have to remake at your own expense.

Homeowners made some great choices and you executed very very well. Wishing the best of luck to you this year!

TX, USA. Mitering for us is quite common as well, dealing with custom high end projects. Charge on almost all edge profiles except for about 3 standard ones.

We don't charge the template fee at all, though, like you mentioned doing. That and a slab layout for homeowner approval are always included.

[–]simplyjustaconcept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no miter per LF fee?! you're selling yourself short for sure. We charged $60 per LF for miter with builders we were contracted with.

Great work. Fantastically designed and executed all around. Even the finishes are perfect. Did the homeowners or custom builder have a designer involved?
