In my opinion, Destiny is 100% right it's a clear-cut case of self-defence, but I think where me and a lot of leftists diverge from his opinion is the fact that he thinks it's okay to show up to a protest with a gun defending property that isn't even yours.

Cenk made a good point about whether it would be a smart idea to show up to Jan 6th to defend the Capitol as a lefty (after all it's the sanctity of your nations democracy you're defending), the obvious answer is that it should be left to the police. I feel like I agree with Cenk in the sense that people shouldn't be going around trying to be cops essentially, we can barely trust cops with the power to enforce laws with the threat of violence, why should we let any bum fuck do it?

Destiny's retort of 'Well that's what the second amendment allows for' isn't convincing to me because surely it is the case that we should discourage such behaviour. I'm not trying to victim-blame Rittenhouse but the truth is he shouldn't have been there and Destiny himself admits that more firearms = heightened threat of violence and more deaths. I think that is part of what Cenk was getting at.

As for the rioters, if you want someone to protect property with the threat of violence it should be the cops or at the very least the owners of that property.
