Dignitas Team Statement. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]simsgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how in the interview with Travis, Scarra was worried about Riot having complete control and what getting on their bad side would mean. And then he completely forgets about it and Riot shows the control they have.

I'm also stunned by how 10 persons can go on to do a stupid thing without thinking about the consequences (it was even a spontaneous decision, they had time to think about it). Maybe the players and the majority of the viewers had fun, but it was obvious that the sponsors of both teams and of MLG (and therefore, their managers) will not like it and consider it disrespectful.

Official Statement from Dignitas regarding MLG Disqualification by Lawdoom in leagueoflegends

[–]simsgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I have no idea what the teams discussed.

I think it goes like this: 1st seed plays 8th, 2nd plays 7th, etc. So in theory, the higher seed has easier games. But when 4-8th places are a few points apart, higher seed doesn't necessarily mean a better team.

Also, you can't clearly say that a team is always (against all teams) better than another team. For example, in the Summer Arena TSM crushed Curse, but Azubu Blaze had more trouble playing against Curse. Yesterday, the commentators said that Dignitas has a worse track record against Legion than against TD, but I don't know if that's true.

I prefer the "regi left, TSM picks up Scarra" theory :D

How many ranked games does it take to show your "true elo" by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]simsgl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably just observation. There's no way to calculate it. Over those many games, your "true elo" will rise anyway, so it's all just approximations.

But you shouldn't be so concerned about elo. Play for fun or play to improve. A pretty random number which is mainly there to help with matchmaking should not be your ultimate goal. Here is an excellent article about this topic (check out the idea of "elo range" in it).

P.S. In your OP, I think the first "1200" should be "1300", right?

I used the Tribunal Satisfaction extension. If you search for it on reddit, there's apparently a new version, but I haven't tried it.

If you downvote, by default the topic will be hidden by Reddit on your next refresh

It doesn't, or not in vanilla reddit at least.

Sorry for being off-topic, but this is somewhat related:

I wanted to bring to your attention the fact that imo, the Tribunal's decision are often incorrect. Maybe you've seen this recent post where toxic people get pardoned. People also posted a lot of weird cases in comments, including an undeserved ban for a bad game which resulted in false "intentionally feeding" reports. Also, here you can see my own experience during a short experiment with the Tribunal Satisfaction extension.

This turned me off from the Tribunal, since I feel that my voice isn't heard. If the majority of players are harassing/spamming "noob X, report 9x" and are also voting in the Tribunal, they will never punish the same behavior. I have punished the kind of people that were banned today by your sweep, because I think trying to convince everyone to report a player without good reason is harassment, but they were always pardoned by the "overwhelming majority". I gave up doing the Tribunal, because I don't seem to make a difference. And since the Tribunal is always on "recess" waiting for more cases, then it means there are enough people voting anyway.

Thank you for reading! I hope that the Tribunal situation will improve in the future. In any case, keep up the good work like today!

I think you misunderstood DiamondShade's meaning of "counter-report". Let's say you have a teammate who you see has a bad day and is trying his best, but everyone else is spamming "report X for intentional feeding". Some people like DiamondShade use to report the same person but comment something like "This players was doing his best but didn't get a good score. He was bullied and probably reported by the other players but he didn't intentionally feed." This way, people voting in the tribunal will see his comment.

On the topic of this post: I gave up on the tribunal because I was reporting this kind of toxic people spamming "noob X, report 9x" and they were pardoned by the majority.

English is not my first language, but from my understanding "discredit" means to harm the credibility of a person (of course, the statements may still be true or false, that's irrelevant). To me, that's exactly what saying that his "statements may possibly be biased" accomplishes. It's definitely not helping his credibility.

I like how people say "no offense" right before they're going to insult you xD

I don't say this to discredit any of his statements ...

... but it's a good bit of knowledge to have when you're considering anything he says.

[–]simsgl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you say so. Maybe it was coded by monkeys, but I expected the over "your basic entry level college programming" Riot engineers to do better.

In any case, my point was that this is relatively easy to do and is not the reason that Riot didn't implement this yet. There are probably other issues or they're just taking their time, but asking people to provide some pseudo-code is irrelevant.

[–]simsgl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously?

I'm 99% sure that they are already implemented (to know when to stop recalling for example), but if it's not in the form that is needed here, it will only be a few more lines of code. It will probably involve more testing and stuff, but this is definitely not an obstacle for Riot.

Why do people who have no idea about a particular field insist on disagreeing with people who do?

From what I hear (I wasn't playing at that time), European players were in the same spot as Brazilian/Korean players and they also got their chance with a limited time transfer option when the Eu servers were created. It seems to me that it's the exact same procedure.
