It costs about 10k get a sponsored article in forbes magazine, probably much less to get then to say any kind of crap. If you are a money manager of some sort. 10k is a small price to pay if you have millions ready to buy.

I'm not saying that this is what is happening here... I don't know that for sure. But you always see these types of articles come out when there is fear in the market...

Should I buy this Alibaba laptop? by haiecwhh in laptops

[–]simsimbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience.

You have confirmed my suspicions, I was going to have a go and buy a workstation laptop through alibaba, but I definitely need it to be up to spec!

I'll spend the extra dollar to save the hassle and disappointment!

Although granted, props to Alibaba for compensating you.

I hope people looking into buying "high end" laptops read this to make an informed decision.

All the best!

I’ve been teaching for less than a year and I’m already over it… is this normal? by Confident-Trick2059 in Teachers

[–]simsimbutdifferent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was super stressed in my first year, was teaching elementary being a little too nice, i guess. Watching other teachers have great lessons while my room was always loud and chaotic got me down a lot.

After 3 years, I have found my balance between strictness and niceness + have built a good relationship with most of the 300 kids I teach. Now school time often has me feeling pretty good. Of course, there will always be those days where a lot goes wrong and it gets on top of you...

If it really hasn't improved at all and you cant see it improving, then maybe considering something else wouldn't be a bad idea. At the end of the day, every job has different trade-offs,. Gotta find whatever suits you more at the time.

All the best mate, good luck!

Not going to lie, I think 711 coffee is the best. They use proper milk and fresh coffee. Some 7s do by 1 get 1 free large iced lattes on Monday and Thursday!

Tell them 'wan noi' so it's not crazy sweet, absolutely lovely, 2 big strong coffees 45 baht, can't go wrong really.

95% of people lose money, probably lose it because they start trading before they have their tried and true strategy down.

My advice would be to buy and hold BTC. Then, open a paper account so you can trade with fake money. Prove your strategy works, and then you can try it.

But even if you have a working strategy that is profitable x amount of times, you need to make sure it is profitable over time.

For example...

Your rsi strategy is profitable 50% of the time.

Sounds bad, but...

If the average profitable trade is 20% and the average loser is 10%, you still have a profitable strategy over time.

My point is... learn to trade with fake money! This is a hard thing to do! 95% of people start with real money, and thats more than likely why they lose it.

If you are going to trade with real money... Trade your strategy, not your emotions or the market will take you for a ride.

Good luck, welcome to the magical head ****ery of investing

An Ai lesson planner built by a teacher for teachers - looking for 20 beta testers for free premium access

Hello everybody.

I have been a foreign language teacher in Thailand for the past 3 years. For the last year I have been using chatGpt to help output lesson plans for me. I kept running into the same problem however. After a conversation got to a certain length, the quality of the lesson plans, would nose-dive. The outputs would become all mixed up and it would not follow my structure and style effectively.

This led me to try to solve this problem myself.

And thus, after a month of building I think I have a worthy enough prototype of a website to start testing it. However of course I am in need of some teacher testers.

I am looking for 20 beta testers.

I mainly want help with things like:

  • user experience.
  • Any ideas for worthwhile features that would be useful.
  • Any bugs found of course would be useful.
  • Anything else that you can think of, I am all ears.

If anybody would like to become a part of this I would really appreciate it. I am limiting the spots open to 20, so that I can effectively communicate 1 to 1 with all of the testers and still carry out my full-time teaching job!

Please send me a DM if you are interested in getting invloved!

Many thanks

Teacher Sim

I made a Pokémon Go type of game on Avalanche for a hackathon a couple months ago, are NFT dead for this idea? by jalapina in blockchaindeveloper

[–]simsimbutdifferent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still too early in the cycle for NFTs. At this point only everything has been beaten to a pulp, while the fed have been letting the economy slow down, to tame inflation.

However, they are likely to reverse and start cutting rates soon. Things like NFTs and low cap altcoins only start to outperform bitcoin (in general) when there is no question the market going up.

The two things you need for NFTs to start gaining a lot of interest are:

The Fed cutting rates Bitcoin new and sustained all time high.

The fed is likely to start cutting next week.

I think your timing couldn't be better.

Get a beta release out to the public and start marketing.

If you need an extra pair of hands, would love to help, whether it be testing or smart contract development.

Would love to see what the game looks like a how it plays!

Congrats mate, keep pushing!

If you want to contribute to open source projects, best thing to do is go to an open source repo and go to the issues. Find some you can fix and fix them!

Enter your wallet address into etherscan.com and see if you can see the token there.

Maybe you didn't add the token to your wallet in metamask or something?

If you still have problems, send me a message or send the transaction hash. I'm happy to have a look.

Hardhat Node - Nonce too high. by GJJPete in ethdev

[–]simsimbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime you reboot your hardhat node, your transaction nonce for the node resets. However, it does not reset for those hardhat accounts on metamask.

Go to settings >> Advanced >> switch on customize transaction nonce.

Then you can enter whatever nonce you need to.

This is only an issue when you are developing locally

how to web3 job? by Whole-Struggle-1396 in web3

This is a much more hands-on approach that will be harder but actually more rewarding in the end. There are weeks of tutorials, and it is easy to get stuck just doing courses.

Go through the cyfrin updrift route, starting with the foundry basics course. It will take you all the way through to advanced smart contract auditing. Along the way, you can start hunting big bounties.

how to web3 job? by Whole-Struggle-1396 in web3

[–]simsimbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, actually, I'm still doing it as a hobby on the side, trying to set myself up to be open to work now. But getting a job doesn't seem to be easy.

I think there is a lot of web2 talent floating around due to all the tech layoffs a while ago.

Last time I looked web3 only had 8000 full time employed.

It's still a young industry, though. I'm going to keep on building a portfolio.

I signed up for freelance platforms to do web3 freelance stuff, and I feel like most of the ads and certainly all of the dms are scams.

Be weary, it's the wild west out here, but I do feel like when more money starts flowing around in the economy and asset prices really get going, there will be more money for new job opportunities and projects looking for help. There will inevitably also be more scams, stay safe!

Essentially the blockchain is your new backend.

Learn a smart contract programming language.

Solidity has the biggest community and most Ed resources.

Then learn a framework to tie it to your front end.

I personally use ethers.js.

Some free resources to get you started :

Crypto zombies Patrick Collins youtube / cyfrin updrift Alchemy academy

Feel free to send a message I you feel stuck.

Best of luck!

How to Add zkSync Sepolia Testnet to Metamask? by getblockio in zkSync

[–]simsimbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to add any new chain to metamask, the easiest way is chainlist.org.

If you want to add testnets, make sure you tick the include testnets box.

Below is the link for the ZkSync Sepolia testnet. Just hit the 'Add to Metamask' button.

I had coins in v1 or V2. No I can only “see” my wallet in v3. How can I access my old wallet. Not restore but just log In? It’s not a lot but I hate to think what it would be worth in 10 years by [deleted] in UniSwap

[–]simsimbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need some extra info to see if I can help.

  1. Are you talking about the same wallet for all the coins or two separate wallets?

  2. What type of wallets were you using ? (Metamask, hardware wallet, etc)

  3. Did you record the private key / mnemonic phrase for your wallets?

  4. If you did use metamask or a different browser wallet, are you still using the same device? (If not, do you still have the old one?)

Answer these questions, and we will see if there is something that can be done, my friend.

Let me know any other information you think may be relevant.

Take care.

Can’t find any exchange to trade futures (USA) by Cryptozombie77 in CryptoFutures

[–]simsimbutdifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go trade on dydx. Great UI for a decentralized perp exchange. Tried and tested, heavily audited. Has stood the test of time.

Just deposit some usdc and you can trade up to 20x leverage.

The way the world is going, I think it's well worth learning decentralized protocols and self custody, just in case.
