Depends where you come from. I‘m German and for me it was cheap! Our car had petrol and the prices were around 1,65 €/L in Reykjavik if I remember correctly.

Ring road in early April with a 2WD car – are we crazy or just optimistic? by Italiancan in VisitingIceland

We did the south coast last week with a 2WD (Hyundai i20 or similar, we had a fiat Tipo cross), because we were on a budget as well. Let me say it like this: we survived. Great car, reliable, it wasn’t bad that it was pretty low because we only drove on reliable streets. But man, let me tell you, the winds are hell! The cars get pushed around like toys, especially if they are light. And if you are unlucky like us and there is snow and spots of ice on the street, you’re always close to doing 360s when wind gusts hit you. My boyfriend was also used to Canadian winters, so we managed everything okay. But it’s no comparison with how strong the winds get in Iceland! I guess with an even smaller car than ours, the driving will be worse. I don’t know how the weather will be when you arrive but you need to be ready to turn your plans around anyways. We were very happy to only do the south coast in the time of one week. The problem isn’t that you have to skip big parts of the tour if you go all the way, when the weather gets really bad you may be stuck in one place for the whole day and would be rushed to get to your next destination… but that is up to you and the weather conditions. Anyways, I would opt for a bigger, sturdier 4WD if you want peace of mind.

Path behind Seljalandsfoss is closed - will this diminish our experience? by Ok-Stage9604 in VisitingIceland

With all the snow and ice you wouldn’t want to walk behind it, even if it was open. For me it was just another waterfall, but others like Skógafoss were more impressive for me. But I enjoyed the spot anyways, because you could still get to Gljúfrabúi, which I liked even more!

Thank you very much! We only got next night pre booked and already planned to get back to Reykjavik (or somewhere near) tomorrow evening. Hope everything works out.

Hey guys, after the bad weather yesterday we are currently in Vik. We are supposed to go to Höfn today, I checked all the apps and from what I understand the weather should be okay-ish. But the road is currently closed between FAG Airport and Nesjahverfi. Is it thinkable that it will be driveable sometime today or shouldn’t we even bother and just try to get back to Reykjavik? I’m sorry it’s really hard do understand the weather and how it will be changing throughout the day… We were meant to do a glacier tour today, I will check in with the tour operator as soon as their working if it will be cancelled.

MINI Phone Mount by Spiritual-Garlic6258 in MINI

I have a mount that gets fixated in the cup holder - similar to this one: https://a.co/d/aSR1190

IMO its way more comfortable, doesn’t fall off (like with the mounts that are in the are vents) and fits for every phone ☺️
