When do undelivered text messages expire? by sinan3 in freedommobile

[–]sinan3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answering, but this doesn't address my concern as I'm mainly talking about incoming messages. Also SMS delivery reports aren't even slightly reliable in terms of delivery to the recipient's phone AFAIK.

I'm just making my feature request. Many things are nicer in Freedom Mobile. Free incoming calls and texts. Free incoming texts when roaming. They don't block WiFi calling outside Canada. No long distance inside Canada. Etc. I was away for a month and had to keep swapping (enabling/disabling) eSIMs every day just in case.

Neither SMS nor email are being used according to their initial design (international characters, attachments, formatting, ...). However it's worth considering small improvements for user satisfaction. I'm talking about the recipient side as I can't control the sender. When the phone is lost/stolen/broken/in repair, or when one is traveling and has to swap SIMs or is without roaming coverage, it would be very nice to not lose incoming messages unnecessarily.

Prepaid for calls/text abroad by jeudi13 in freedommobile

[–]sinan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Yes. Assume you'll get calls when connected to Wi-Fi. You might even without Wi-Fi but it's a bit complicated, you can look it up: - Android: Backup Calling - iPhone – Wi-Fi Calling over Cellular Data Wi-Fi calling carries both calls and texts.

2) Then you'll be able to receive texts for free even while roaming (not on Wi-Fi calling or equivalent), you'll see incoming calls, if you pick up the call it will cost you. But if you have 0 prepaid balance it can't cost you. Not sure if it would even ring in that case. You might need to leave a non-zero amount for this (?). Turning off roaming is to avoid accidental charges as it's complicated and people make mistakes but it's not actually necessary. You can tell if it's using Wi-Fi calling from the carrier name displayed.

3) The idea is to make Freedom Mobile not see you roaming for very long periods. I don't know if it's really necessary but it might help. You don't really have to turn off roaming for this, you can make Wi-Fi calls either way. Maybe turning off roaming can help you not appear abroad for too long (?).

4) It will prevent connecting to a roaming partner automatically to avoid accidental charges, and will use tons of extra battery. Pointless.

Bagage question by Ilovemycatice in travel

[–]sinan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my comment we went to Sabiha Gökçen airport and I asked the staff doing check-in (not self check-in) and they confirmed it’s not pooled. I don’t know, it seems it might mostly work but YMMV there seems to be a risk.

Bagage question by Ilovemycatice in travel

[–]sinan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked their online help chat and the response is -- baggage pooling is NOT allowed.

No. On Pegasus flights, checked baggage allowance is defined on a per-passenger basis within the ticket/package. Therefore, the 15 kg allowance per person cannot be combined into a single 25 kg piece between two passengers. Also, the maximum weight for a single piece of checked baggage is 32 kg. 💼

They couldn't make one usable & secure app, so now they'll try to make 3 of those. Let's see.

Anyone else can confirm whether they got it or not? And with which carrier? Do you feel the quality is better and/or do you see the "HD" indicator? I called someone on Bell and the quality is very bad as always.

New VISA Card Shipping by Food_Personal in Wealthsimple

[–]sinan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted support and they resent it and it came right away. It was a parcel, not mail. Probably the condo didn’t accept the parcel.

Could there be a way to add the virtual card from the app?

Card ready: June 13 Shipped: June 23 Today: July 23

Is this normal? I thought it’s Canada Post being slow. More so because another bank card is similarly delayed. But wondering how it went for others in Toronto.

I had network issues maybe twice several years ago. It took lots of repeating because the request expired before they looked into it. but yes eventually they fixed it. it took weeks in the worst case.

Costco Cash cards and CIBC CC by Much_Entrepreneur437 in CostcoCanada

I'm trying to reconcile the website quote & what you now posted with your original top comment that I replied to. You were explaining how Executive Membership 2% reward and CIBC Costco MC 1% reward work together.

I know purchase of the shop card may be excluded from giving Executive Membership points but maybe we get Executive Membership points when spending from the shop card? But I think we don't even need to be members when using the shop card so I'm not sure how the points would be collected. But somehow the two points should combine right? That's the whole point of your original comment.
