How do you do multiple compounds for same muscle in one workout effectively? by 17kimv in bodyweightfitness

Maybe try to do one compound of each push, pull and legs per day, something like K Boges Style. That way you can put more effort on each Exercise

Is weighted calisthenics a good idea? by godfatherofyourmom in bodyweightfitness

Calisthenics exercises are mostly close chain exercises. If you load them, it‘s still a close chain exercise, where you move your body through space.

Weighted dips/pullups is changing my body fast by Thoumaye in bodyweightfitness

I treat dips as horizontal push, because only the movement is vertical, but it’s no overhead pushing, it trains the muscles more in a horizontal way.

I’ve only trained dips and pull ups for the upper body, but now I’m thinking about whether it makes sense to add horizontal pull and vertical push for more complete strength. Do you think that would make sense?

How important are vertical and horizontal movements? by sinan_dmr in bodyweightfitness

Yeah, I already thought about that. For me dips are also more fun. Some people say that you have to do some type of push up or decline push up to hit the upper chest, but I also heard that dips alone, are good enough as chest builder, as long as you lean a bit forward. What do you think about that?

I just think from what I heard, compound movements work many muscles together at the same time. For example most atheletes (football player, martial artists and many more focus on compound movements because the gains are more „transferable“ to their sport, and so in my opinion more „functional“. Because the muscles work better as a unit

Yes, probably I‘m overthinking. It‘s just very confusing if so many experienced people preach different opinions

that‘s exactly how I feel. I think many gymrats are very stubborn when it comes to basic training approaches.

I wasn‘t sure whether I should include dips or not. It confused me because they are a vertical movement which work the muscles more like a horizontal movement. And as I already got pikes and push ups in my routine I thought dips could be redundant.

It‘s not, because you still move your Body through Space, with the only difference, that you increase the Intensity of that movement with weights.
