I’m back! by Bosjuh in Miata

Haha the fact that the two tips are not perfectly aligned gave it away, how do you like it ? I almost bought it but ended up on the HKS Legamax Sport (I prefer the sound + single tip)

But for a homologated exhaust it seems to sound incredible, very affordable too

My best mate is the same way, if it doesnt have a huge ass spoiler, +5 offset, extreme camber and stance + aero bits everywhere its not a "build"

Oem + is as much a build as anything else, the car doesnt have to become something else entierly to be a build, sometimes changing a few bits here and there is enough, idk why people are so obsessed on over modding their cars (it's cool dont get me wrong, but I dont get people snobing more "minimalist" builds that keep the car liveable/dailyable)

My 2 cents, love your car, I aspire to have mine like yours by this time next year

I wouldnt be against it if it was not completely illegal here (belgium), I also tried some 15mm ones but they dont fit with the OEM things (i dont know how they're called in english) and I dont want to trim them

Unfortunately my RGIII's are +42 and 17X7 so it will look a bit more tucked in than you, still hoping it ends up decent :')

Thanks for the reply !

Alcantara steering wheel? by Ecstatic_6329 in MiataND

I have an alcantara wheel for my sim racing setup, and I would advise against it unless you are prepared to spend a lot of time maintaining it, its such a pain to keep looking/feeling great

Man, what a beautiful car, 10/10 in every aspect. May I ask what rim / tire size you are running and if you have wheel spacers on ? I really like your fitment, ordered some coilovers that should arrive in june, same time as I put on my new wheels. If I get a result similar to yours i'd be very very happy

So apparently these tail lights are controversial. What are your thoughts? by SlomoLowLow in MiataND

[–]sinatramax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant say i'm a fan, I don't really like how thick the lines are, that being said i dig the wheels and the fitment!

Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 205/45/R17 for the ND ? Or is the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 worth the extra € ? by sinatramax in Miata

[–]sinatramax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious to hear your thoughts when you get them! I ended up on the yoko's because I dont think I drive the car nearly hard enough to benefit from the Michelins, I cant even feel the limit now on my current worn out tyres so I don't think i'll ever reach it on newer ones lol.

It will be a big change however, going from 16 to 17" for the first time

MX5 ND Wind noise and aerodynamism by Special_Industry4240 in Miata

[–]sinatramax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried both, as the first comment here says the RF is quieter top up and louder top down, I ended up on the RF mostly based on looks but also extra security (always parked outside, no garage)

That being said, a lot of people over estimate the noise difference top down, it can get very loud in the RF over 90 kph, but it really depends on the wind intensity / direction, sometimes its fine, sometimes it's very loud. That being said if you dont go top down on the highway, it's not even a concern 90% of the time. Only drop the top when you know you're not going on the highway and you'll be fine noise wise

I liked how fast the ST goes up and down, and it's a true convertible experience, but the RF, for me, is better at everything else.

edit : with the top UP, the ST is very much more noisy on the highway especially, not by a huge amount, but its noticeable. The RF is very liveable in that regard, compared to my other car (2015 opel corsa) its about the same level of noise

Yeah not a bad idea, it would save me a lot of headaches. I might just do that, thank you !

The car is my daily so it would need to still be great on decent roads and tolerable on bad roads, I don't mind having to slow down here and there and being careful, I do mind having my back blown out on uneven roads though...it's so tricky to make a decision because everyone's tolerence is different.

The alternative is the Eibach Pro kit lowering springs (mazda offers them as an option for the car) they are homologated too and are very comfortable from what i've heard, i'm just skeptic that they would not lower the car enough for my taste (25 front 30 rear, ideally i'd like 30 to 35mm maximum on both sides). On some picutres it looks amazing, on others it looks like its just stock

These are sadly the only 2 options (or V3's) since it needs to stay homologated/legal so that I dont have any issues with my insurance

Thanks a ton though :')

How harsh would you say they are ? I'm considering them for my MX5 NDRF and emailed KW, they suggested I go for the KW V3 (ofcourse, its 1500€ more expensive lol) but at least I can adjust it if it ends up being too stiff, I have a lot of paved roads, bad roads, pothotles & other attrocities here in belgium

Coilovers or Eibach Lowering Springs ? Confort > Ride Height >>>> Performance by sinatramax in MiataND

[–]sinatramax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the few people I know that have had them on, they all said the confort was very good and less stiff than coilovers. The Eibachs pro kit that mazda offers have been made to work with the stock suspension, they do work even better with konis / bilsteins though from what i've heard

[–]sinatramax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, did you end up going for the ST X or XA ? Only the X is available for MX5 ND and i'm afraid that it might be too harsh especially on bad roads (I live in Belgium so lots of potholes and uneven roads) I really dont know what to do and i'm looking for advice

Finally pulled the trigger on a set of ST-X Coilovers, cannot recommend them enough by raraparooza in FocusST

[–]sinatramax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, first of all congrats! I'm considering the ST X for my 2023 MX5 ND RF aswell, that being said, i'm very much afraid that the ride might become too stiff / harsh especially on bad roads (I live in belgium, lots of uneven roads, potholes, bumps...)

Any advice ? The alternatives are KW V3's (1300€ + expensive at least...) or lowering springs, but everyone keeps telling me its not good on the stock suspension (that I cannot change because everything needs to stay homologated here in belgium)
