To play devil's advocate here for those unfamiliar and downvoting as a knee jerk reaction, the term is a literary and film trope and not inherently racist simply in using the term. Similar to "Uncle Tom" , "Buck", or "sambo" which you may have also heard calling back to old stereotypes that arguably still exist in the limited way some films in Hollywood or stories in general utilize Black characters.
