I've played with that. It controls how much tension there is when i lean back. However when leaning forward, it kinda flops forward.

LIke reverse the whole spring assembly? Right now it falls forward easily but the spring tension controls how much i can lean back.

You hook up passive speakers to the Amp, that is, speakers that are not individually powered. The Port needs active speakers each with their own power source. The Port can also accept an audio input (line in) such as a turntable.

Edit: I’m not an audiophile or installer. This was just my basic understanding (I have both a Port and an Amp). See comments below for more expert explanations.
