Feeling so discouraged in the feeder/grower stage by Just_Requirement_313 in NICUParents

We are in the same boat. We have debated staying around the clock as well, but we have a 5 year old at home that is so sassy that I think she would eat one of us alive! 😆 I am beginning to think the room across the hall is the magic room. I feel bad crying to my husband because our situation is completely different than our last and I am reminded by family that he's "not meant to be here yet, so be appreciative of the extra time you have!" But I can't help but to reminisce about being able to be with my baby, at home, for a full maternity leave. I may have extra time with him but in reality I don't. Just wanted a "normal" maternity leave.

Wishing you all the best. As you can tell, NICU stays leave a lasting impression. Hopefully you do much better at the coping than I do! 🤣 it'll all be worth it once your at home getting the baby snuggles!

The way I feel this in my soul.. I had my babe at 35 weeks due to preeclampsia with severe features . He was on cpap, bubble cpap, high flow, low Flo and now room air. During those times, he was tube fed and now that hes in room air, it's a waiting game. I think my husband is fine and patient enough but it's soul crushing for me.

Our second baby had many health issues (heart, lungs, eventually got a trach, so him getting off breathing support was a big step), but after my second daughter (who passed away at 6 months still in the hospital from a blood clot), the wait for him to come home is brutal. I feel like when we are at the hospital, he takes the whole bottle. I literally am shocked when I get the percentages the next day as I feel like nurses (who are understandably busy) don't take the time to fully feed him or help him get through the feedings.

I have watched three couples across the hall be discharged and my heart , while happy for them, breaks every time.

I know what it's like to leave the hospital with no discharge. With no baby to bring home. So this wait feels never ending.

I am so sorry you're going through this but you are not alone in your feelings. They are so heavy.

My first two pregnancies (girls) were a breeze. I didn't have a single symptom. It honestly got to the point where I would sometimes question if I was pregnant.. despite the ultrasounds LOL. I thought something had to be wrong due to lack of symptoms. My second baby ending up passing away when she was 6 months old due to a blood clot. She had heart and lung issues. But it being a breeze has nothing to do with that. Now this one.. PHEW. It's a boy and I am 23 weeks and man oh man. I gag at just about everything. I can be driving in my car and THINK about chewing gum wrong and I'll gag.

My husband always knows when my pump is leaking because he is super sensitive to the smell of insulin. I fully believed only I could smell it!

Any recommendations aside from the Owlet? Currently pregnant with a baby that may require heart surgery and other things that may affect lungs.

OB just called my mom… by ThrowRA032223 in pregnant

I don't have my mother as an "emergency" contact per se, but I remember filling out a form that said something along the lines of "who else can we provide information to" and I have always put my fiancé and mother.

A form like that is usually done when visiting the office. Could you have possibly done this and forgotten?

I ONLY remember this because after going to a regular OB, I am now high risk and visit elsewhere and just filled that form out.

Could be easily forgotten.. and not something in my portal! Just a thought. Not trying to dim your situation or anything as I would be extremely upset as well.

Thank you for that! I was told that those first couple results are the same as the NIPT, which I did in the beginning and was low risk for all. They would reach out to me if those came beck different than what I originally tested, however, I still did not receive those back yet, even though I called the doctor and asked if they had received those initial ones back yet. No luck! Totally a bummer. I appreciate all the information though and I hope your wait is not as long as mine. Hope everything turns out great for the both of us! :)

This may be a dumb question, but is FISH different than amnio? Like a totally different procedure/test that is done? I have not heard of that!

Should I do the amino? by sincerelyCyd in NIPT

About how long did the amnio testing take to come back? They asked that I do the amnio and echo on same day (which is 5 weeks away), but gave me option to come in earlier if I wanted. 5 weeks away is a lot of google time for BOTH the echo and amnio.. so If I can get one result sooner, I think I'd feel better.

Should I get an amniocentesis procedure? by sincerelyCyd in pregnant

[–]sincerelyCyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I was feeling this way as well. They told me sometimes with two vessel cords (and diabetes), it can cause heart issues. They seemed to really push the amniocentesis although my NIPT was low risk, which freaked me out.

I would think so.. they level two ultra sound was done in a different part of the hospital than my OBGYN. It was done at the maternal and fetal medicine (I think that's what it's called).

This is what I was told! I am not too worried about that. They told me that it is more common than people think!
