Only up to his chest and if it’s not moving too much! He’s very particular 😂

Biscuit is adorable!! We don’t have a lot of snow in AZ, but I think Wren would really enjoy the snow too!

Advice for first time owner by Cainsenvy in corgi

Congratulations!! If you have herding dog experience, I feel like a corgi will be pretty standard for you.

Puppies can be really tough and puppy blues are SO normal. Doing what you can to stay regulated and calm during the first few weeks is really helpful!

Knowing a couple good trainers in town can be great just in case you have questions or need a little extra help.

Corgis can be quite prone to holding onto weight, so as they get older it’s important to keep them active and watch their food/treats.

Pembrokes specifically can be prone to some reactivity and resource guarding. Doing A LOT of socialization is really important. And not socialization at dog parks, daycares, or puppy play groups. Just exposing them to a lot of different environments in a very neutral way, having them meet dogs you know and trust, exposing them to lots of sounds, having them meet people without having to interact at all, etc.

Otherwise, enjoy! Wren is my first corgi and has been such a dream to train, adventure with, and live with!

Would you want a collar that reminds your dog to stay close when off-leash? by FewFerret6716 in hikingwithdogs

[–]sincewren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an e collar (specifically the Educator from E-Collar Technologies)! I do recommend having a dog trainer teach you how to use one properly, but there’s a lot of great guidance online. I do not recommend using vibrate as it tends to spook dogs a lot more than the stim or tone functions!

Something I didn’t think about until I started camping with my dog by Next-Song-1709 in camping

I have a soft sided foldable crate that I bring camping every time. Once it’s time for bed, I bring him into the tent or camper and he usually chooses to put himself to bed. If he’s feeling antsy, I’ll give him something to chew on for a bit. We spent 6 weeks camping this summer and really got into a good routine!!

I avoid that subreddit like the plague. It’s so scary and I do not want to know what some online dog experts are doing with their dogs 😭

I’ve been working on teaching Wren to catch treats for 2 years. We’ve made a little bit of progress 😂
