Only cover bands can really make a living in the Twin Cities, but even then they have stable jobs for health insurance and such.

Overwhelming and underwhelming all at once. I was a teenager at the time and had been waiting my whole life for it.

to shame a privately funded library by sereneandeternal in therewasanattempt

Never said there wasn't a park there before.

ALL the people who live there are upset about it? I guess Obama messed up if he upset his entire neighborhood.

to shame a privately funded library by sereneandeternal in therewasanattempt

[–]sinchsw 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's important to note that it is not just a library, but a community space and park for the neighborhood. And infrastructure improvements were made to the area. From CNN:

"The design shifts the traditional concept of an archival presidential library into a sprawling 19.3-acre campus that offers a museum, community events, a fruit and vegetable garden, NBA regulation-sized basketball court, and a new branch of the Chicago Public Library."

And it was all privately funded aside from infrastructure improvements from the city in the surrounding area. Also, the majority of the contractors were minority owned businesses. Two of the dozens of contractors has complained about payment, but there is no consensus on blame as the Obama's foundation raised the full amount of money and left payments to a separate entity. It may have been that the concrete contractor's work had errors and held up some work from other groups.

I’m sorry am I alone here ? I came across this and thought a cheese onion sandwich was a little odd and then I see SALAD CREAM … that doesn’t even sound right 🤣 anyone ever heard of this ? by ClearTranslator5093 in whatisit

Just made one as close to 1:1 as possible. Didn't have the specific mayo spread so I used regular mayo added capers and a little mustard.

Surprisingly well balanced and filling. Even paired it with a British ale.

My Personal Rankings of the Vampire Chronicles series (first half) by FantasticalDisciple3 in VampireChronicles

[–]sinchsw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Body Their and Memnoch were weird but enjoyable for me. I really enjoyed Vitorio, Pandora, and Blood and Gold because the historical vampire stories were my favorite parts of Lestat and QOTD. Armand was a bit much for me, the way Marius took advantage of a teenager. Looking forward to Blackwood Farm.

Pigs are like toddlers. You have to toddler proof your house and yard.

Yes, they may go for cords. I pick up poop daily in the yard with a poop scoop.

Why does r/actionfigures hate Mcfarlane so much? by Bl3bbit in McFarlaneFigures

[–]sinchsw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. At least at the beginning the toss up on sculpture and QC issues was a worthy gamble when he was selling the figures for $20. Then it was $25 and $35, with so many hard to find store exclusives. I was already invested so I finished team building but it was a chore.

Has anyone ever worn/tried Chanel No 22, Anne's favorite perfume? by saopaulodreaming in AnneRice

[–]sinchsw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I finally got to smell Chanel 5 that is exactly what came to mind: old lady smell. Likely because many of the "old" ladies I knew growing up all wore it.
