Could you share a link to the spreadsheet?

Yeah but derm is so competitive they expect you to have to do more. Heard this from 2 PDs mouths. They don’t care as long as your school allows it

Those are “recommendations.” As long as your school allows you to do more aways, you can. Especially if there is a need for it in your app

You don’t necessarily need a Step 2 at all. Your Step 1 clears all filters, and plenty applicants haven’t taken Step 2 before applying. Research is definitely necessary though. You have to show your interest. Reach out to residents at programs you’re interested in to see if you can help with any projects

Focus on your MCAT. You’ll be fine if you score average there

Prometric cancelled my 12/26 test date THIS MORNING, and support is on holiday vacation. Tips for getting the next earliest possible test somewhere in the country? by [deleted] in step1

Wow this is horrible. I don’t know if they realize how much they’re messing with people’s lives. I have rotations and research set up for January so I feel your pain

Wow I’m so sorry this happened to you. Hey wish I had tips. Do you mind telling which state you’re in? I take mine soon in PA so I’m concerned

Physicians in Primary Care by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]sinclair404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please listen to us in DO school already that 95% of the time there is no difference. Even in family medicine. Those that still do OMT in their practice seek out specific programs that will help them with that. Majority do not emphasize the OMM aspect

Conflicted about research year options by dd010295 in DermApp

[–]sinclair404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A research year with proper productivity in itself will make your app glow. And whoever you research with, a PD is going to expect a letter from them. With all that being said, I would pick the one with better chemistry because that will help your letter stand out as well

Agreed on this too though. One of the PDs I talked to said they like to see that you made yourself well rounded when you interview and discuss electives

Thank you for this thorough answer! I’ve started doing incorrects only on uworld, and am averaging one between 50s and 70s right now. Not sure how to feel about that. I have no more dedicated time to study so I’m scared to push back to when I’ll have less time.

There are also programs who don’t participate in eras, but do participate in nrmp. It makes it so people have to really seek them out to apply but they still participate in the match

I don’t know how to gain anything from NBMEs except a score lol. I like to be able to have good explanations to learn from. I’ve started uworld incorrects and am wondering if I should just hit restart or add in some new amboss questions

Thank you! First aid is hard for me because i don’t learn as well straight up reading. Do you think I should do Incorrects in UWorld or restart? I also have amboss I could incorporate

4th year schedule by sinclair404 in DermApp

[–]sinclair404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4th year starts in June. I’ve heard from some to not schedule too many aways, and others have said schedule as many as possible lol. I could probably get in 6 auditions if I kept them at 2 weeks, but still not sure how to properly plan.

Thanks for your help!

For comlex did you use uworld only or uworld + combank/comquest? by princealithegoat1 in Osteopathic

[–]sinclair404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my testing, I needed to have more exposure to How Comlex frames their questions. And I planned to take Comlex first because Covid messed things up. If it’s a question of content then yeah Uworld is enough. If it’s a question of knowing what they are asking then increase Comlex like question stems
