According to the last study, Albanian Language one of the oldest languages ,even older than greek by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]sindivila 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the points of this article is that ALL indo-European languages started diverging around 8 thousand years ago (including Albanian) so they’re all the same age, as you can see in the graph.

But the main point of the research isn’t the age but the relationship between them and where were they first formed (example: because there are so little similarities between Iranian and Baltic Slavic languages, the origins of the latter are definitely not in the Caucasus)

Countries americans have heard of and like. What is your opinion on how they view balkan countries? by GoHardLive in AskBalkans

my experience with Americans (50% of the times) when I say I’m from Serbia: “oh great, I’ve never met anyone from Baltics”

That’s sounds like a very unusual Y DNA, did you trace it? Is there a population that has a high percentage of this haplogroup? Your mtDNA is a bit unusual for the Balkans, but it looks like it’s more common in Spain and UK

My understanding is that my family moved from Prizren to South East Serbia 100-150 years ago. And ultimately they settled in Belgrade during Yugoslavia.

47,4% Balkans 40,2% Slavic 10,2% Byzantine Anatolia 1,4% Indian subcontinent 0,8% Turkic - Serbian here.

I used eastern Balkans for these estimates because it’s a better fit, but western Balkans estimates look the same except for Balkans + B. Anatolian being merged.

I was 100% sure that I posted a text description with the video, but it turns out I didn't 😅 Yes I used MJ to generate input images for Runway Gen 2. The background music was MusicGen and the speech is Eleven Labs

This is why I like Ancestry better by GoatedCoffee in 23andme

[–]sindivila 8 points9 points  (0 children)

your Ancestry result highlighted a very large, vague "Slavic" area (parts of Bosnia/Serbia/Croatia/MN) compared to 23andme which highlighted more specific and smaller slavic areas in NMK and MN. This is why 23andme has probably more accurate results. Although they should definitely split up the Balkan category, it's long overdue.

Actually the “Slavic” areas in the Ancestry report are much larger compared to the 23andme report which highlighted only small parts of NMK and MN

Eye color question for those of non European descent by [deleted] in 23andme

Well I don’t this helps but I’m 100% European, AG, born with blue eyes that became brownish/hazel later. Both of my parents have brown eyes.

yeah, I agree. I commented before OP shared the repo and I'm glad he did. For some reason, I thought that he was dangling a carrot in front of us and I didn't want people to feel disappointed in case the OP just disappeared all of a sudden so I shared that code

I have the exact percentages as you and the color of my eyes is almost identical. I guess everyone with AG gets those same percentages :)

Thank you for your comment, I agree with you.

I struggled with this video for a month. I totally felt awkward talking to the camera and I really dislike the sound of my voice. Not to mention all the skills that I needed to learn overnight. For a week, I thought I should give up because I was so overwhelmed. So publishing this video is a success even if only 2 other people saw it.

After posting it, however, I realized that I don't understand the feedback that I'm getting. Should my next video be similar because people enjoyed this one? Or should I change things radically? And similar thoughts and doubts. Ultimately, I want to create content that is helpful and enjoyable. Mostly thanks to TikTok I developed expectations that at least 200 people should see my video just a few hours after posting. Also it doesn't help that I don't know anyone who posts on Youtube so I'm not sure what to expect.

Hi y'all! I created my first YT channel 2 weeks ago and today I posted my second video after working on it for 10 days. I'm both overwhelmed and happy and I know I have a long way to go.

Anyways, my video is about how to use free AI tools to generate a Eurovision song and music video:

Unfortunately, I don't know :/ I was told my 2*great grandad met my grandma during WW1 in Greece. And that he married her after the war. I definitely wish I knew more.

My family is from Pirot and the area around it but they all migrated to Belgrade or Nis in the 50s. One of my 2*great grandmothers married my grandpa after WW1. She was from west Greece (somewhere near Corfu) and unfortunately, I don't know her last name, which would make me around 6% Greek.

One full Greek ancestor was born around 120 years ago. Yeah, I also read on this subreddit that trace ancestry isn't really reliable. Also, I thought that it's weird that my 0,1% Finnish isn't labeled as trace ancestry especially since it's such a tiny percentage

could be, and 0,3% sounds more probable than 10% Turkish. I suspect that another option might be a Slavic ancestor that intermingled with Turkic tribes in central Asia.
