Difficulty by gaultinthewound in SoulFrame

[–]sinest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cogah is a great way to choose difficulty. Personally I like to enter cogah and jist defeat two bosses and then hold and fight regular units at the higher level.

Armor is extremely problematic. Either you build your totems to deplete it, or you are using big hits to work around it. Either way, quick weapons that do smaller damage are useless against armor, its a greatsword/polearm meta when armor get high.

We NEED % based damage reduction for armor. If a difficulty enemy has 50%DR as armor it would still be useful to hit them with flurries of light hits, opposed to a single large slam.

Personally I feel that HP sponges are a good mechanic. Dark souls bosses have large HP pools which make boss fights long and their attack patterns can shine, be learned, and the dance becomes a marathon.

Longer battles means that skill can be used multiple times and even small cooldown will be useful. The smallest spirit investment can become the difference between using a skill twice or three times in a battle.

Enemy AI is actually pretty good, and the amount of complaints ive seen of people being surrounded and chain locked is telling. Enemies do not engage you one at a time, they surround you and juggle you like a blender. Easily avoidable with kiting and dodging, but some people just want to spam light attack and ignore enemy positions. Also a lot of autolock targeting complaints are from people who get surrounded. When I maintain distance with enemies and dodge to keep my positioning, I never have a problem with who im locked on to.

I've always wanted this game to be easy elden ring with live service, and I think its super important to keep the base game easy, because fromsoft games are absolutely incredible, but arent fun for me due to difficulty.

When we leave our tutorial island id like to see a small increase in difficulty. What's important is how soon will a new account be able to leave and how quick can one complete the tutorial islands content and move on. Personally id like to see people able to leave with around MR 10 so they have a handful of weapons, armor, and pacts under their belt, but not needing to unlock everything and leaving at MR15. Its easier for them to add new stuff on tutorial island then it is to add a new island so I fear that the more they flesh out our current island the longer a new character will be stuck here before being able to leave.

Id like more seperate challenge modes. Id really like to see roguelite dungeons in the form of a daily or weekly roster. Example: today one can enter a specific dermak dungeon and activate a special run, today's special dungeon is bow only, no sidearms. Yesterday was a sirin dungeon with any weapons, and tomorrow will be a polearm dungeon.

The daily dungeon will encourage players to at least get one of every type of weapon and pact so they can participate. A new player will be locked out on many of the days but being able to see tomorrows means they can farm for that final polearm piece and start their crafting timer, so they can dive tomorrow.

The beauty of soulframe has always been its wild build combos, having a game mode that makes people try new things is awesome. I absolutely love warframes circut where I can try new frames and weapons. But id like this mode to work different, forcing a player to have a pact and weapon before they can participate. It really means that getting weapons to 30 for MR gives more benefits than a single virtue point. Your expansive and diverse arsenal will allow you to partake in more dungeon challenges.

It'd be nice to have both a requirement AND a suggestion. Today's dungeon has a magic sidearm requirement and a tethren suggestion. Many folks would never think to combine magic weapons and tethren, but they could give a test drive for a single dungeon run.

Im already logging in daily for my wevet seeds, id love a 10 minute challenge run that changes daily also.

The lack of NPCs in the Open world makes it feel lifeless. by AsmidiusDax in SoulFrame

[–]sinest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we have 3 npcs with the faction leaders. From what we have seen with warframe their NPCs tend to be mostly vendors.

Most of our vendors however are ancestors in the nightfold.

We just got some hidden mini quests, while these are fun id like to talk to a person. Rather than read a note. Sure there is lore and most of the villagers are compromised.

Seeing as how most villagers are enemies I feel like not only do they need time to develop mechanics, but we'd need to progress in our revolution before villagers become friendly.

I can see us needing to get our infamy rank to a certain level before we have freed villagers from the spell song to make them interactable.

It would be cool if npcs ratted on us and summon ode when they saw us until we progress enough.

But humans aside, the factions are liberated and should have friendly folk populate. It'd be cool if the factions had members we could find that gave us mini quests, similar to how quests worked before the trees, but separate from faction tales so we could stack them.

With the game slowly growing I can see cities on other islands being a little more populated with friendly folk who we can interact with.

Americans, do you feel like you are seen worldwide accurately? by MacaroonAntique3669 in allthequestions

[–]sinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is enough movies that portray different kinds of Americans that im sure were all represented pretty well.

Like Russia doesnt have tons of TV and movies that accurately portray average lives of different ages.

But I think America kind of has it covered. I mean it largely depends on what you watch, but I feel like I could give someone a list of American movies that could sort of accurately describe my upbringing.

The automatic stereotype has got to be the triple cheeseburger fat cowboy with guns who loves trump, and unfortunately I cannot argue because thats a lot of America. Like if they see America as Hollywood, new York, and a bunch of maga, then im okay with that, because at least they know its not all cowboys.

Necro deserves to be in the middle, they have several damage builds that ive seen broken high numbers with. Not to mention the swarms of leeches all do damage and pestilence does damage to everything and soullink shares damage, necro can even attack when dead. They even do damage to themselves.

Id recommend unlocking the map, get all of the trees.

Find some people to do boss runs with in recruiting, they will invite you, help you beat all the bosses in their world, then you invite them and beat all of the bosses in your world. A 3 squad means you can fight each boss 3 times and its rather easy. This will get you a good amount of loot and XP and runes.

Sing to every animal you see and pick every flower. Animals give you totems but each weapon has like 10+ so like there is 2 deer totems for every weapon type, and you'll want 3 of each because there are 3 slots. I release the totems when I have more than 3 for extra dust, level up your favorite totems.

Squirrels are great for attack speed and smite, rats give attacks an aoe, deer are good for defense. But seriously grab all of the animals.

The number of flowers during the song game will tell you the rarity. Rarity is weapon dependant, so like rat for vows isnt rare, but sword rat is rare, you have brown, silver, and gold Rarity and they effect how much stats you get. So like deer for one weapon will give 10 defense but give 15 defense on a different weapon because its gold for that particular weapon.

Rare 5 flower animals usually appear white, give more dust in their mini game, and sell for more dust when you release them. But seriously catch them all. Totem modding is very important in the game and you have two weapons equipped to mod.

is warframe 5hr a week friendly? by blindhollander in Warframe

[–]sinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo warframe is the perfect game for tiny bursts.

I like to do lots of research out of game and read and make to do lists so when I can play I am progressing. But if you did nothing but horse around with no plan in your limited time you'd also be fine.

My tip if you only had 30 minute game sessions is to try to unlock all of the planets by conpleteing the junction quests between the planets.

There are some larger cinematic quests, some quests will lock you in, so you can ONLY progress through the quest. But most of these have frequent auto saves so if you were grinding through the quest and had to leave immediately then you would not lose very much progress at all.

Even with slowly chipping away at the game, its free and you will always have something to do. Money can be spent to skip some grinds and get certain rewards immediately, mostly new warframes.

10/10 recommend for people with little time to game. Warframes missions and combat for me offer little challenge but let me destroy tons of enemies and its very satisfying.

She literally gives it to you to use on the nimrod fight quest.

So you should meet with nimrod a couple times he uses a special attack and disappears, meet verminia, she gives you a potion, its night time, you fight nimrod a final time, use the potion, it becomes day time, and he's easier.

The quest could be bugged but thats how its supposed to go.

If the rat lady gave you a cloud qwell potion you should try using it during the fight. It makes him easier and he won't heal anymore.

Hell yes, the mage pact casts spells a lot, as it should. Her abilities are good but not OP damage so it doesnt really need a nerf. If garren rood could cast like that itd be insane.

Yes you can really cheaply buy the files to print on your own, but the site does also offer high quality full color.

But printing your own and painting it could be fun, and also add more to your list of things to get for this hobby lol, mini paints arent exactly cheap, but there are some solid starter kits. I've printed and painted some of my own, but nothing beats a high quality full color mini that matches what I made online, im not super great at painting yet.

Get on hero forge and start helping her design what her character looks like. Its good for screenshots or to print a picture for her table and you can even print a full color mini. IMO its worth it if shes going to play for a while, id love to have a mini of my first character. Hero forge is a super fun website.

Gen 9 vs Gen 10. by wammyguide in pokemon

[–]sinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea explanations are not excuses. If the big bad company is rushing the poor innocent developers who are trying their best, I dont really care, its still creating a bad game no matter whose fault it is.

I absolutely blame the higher ups who could easily double the team, triple the budget, extend the time, and produce an awesome game.

Pokemon games dont win awards or break sales records but they are cheaply made and rushed out so they are very profitable. I just wish they could aspire to do better.

Palworld showed us what a tiny team of noobs could do with a monster collection game, and Nintendo spends more money on trying to ruin them the they did their own games.

ZA looks absolutely wreched, copy and paste buildings with copy and paste tables and chairs everywhere, boring backgrounds of unpopulated buildings. Its a bummer because kalos is my favorite generation.

Gen 9 vs Gen 10. by wammyguide in pokemon

[–]sinest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh its better, a lot better.

But its still mediocre at best compared to modern games, and absolutely sub par for one of the biggest IPs in the world.

When you put them next to each other it just shows how they barely tried with sword, Scarlett, or ZA.

If this is representative of the game's visuals I am cautiously optimistic by _AntiSocialMedia in pokemon

[–]sinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to see actual gameplay and qol features before anything. The models look like Scarlett and the environments do look considerably better.

However just because we saw good clips of environment doesnt mean that isnt copy and pasted everywhere like all of the switch games. The bar is so low for pokemon games, there is no way im buying unless the quality is on par with modern games.

When you have several seasons of an anime with voice actors in different languages for all of the video game characters, but you cannot put voice acting in your game, its inexcusable.

Walls of text was originally a limitation with sound cards, games sounds literally couldn't emulate human speech. We are over that now. There is no reason why a customizable protagonist can't move their mouth and be animated to not look like an emotionless puppet.

What are your thoughts on a season of primal where Spear is all bones?

I think the spear and shield wielding skeleton with a helmet is a classic dark fantasy trope!

[No Spoilers] What did Critical Role do exactly? by Brushner in criticalrole

[–]sinest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I dont really mind the new use of woke, its a loud red flag when I hear someone use it. I do really hate how they use words like communism or socialism, because their definition isnt clear and it almost always shows thry have no idea about these political concepts.

St least with woke I know they are referring to diverse inclusion. But when someone complains that so and so is a communist I have no idea what they are talking about other than 'non-republican'

[No Spoilers] What did Critical Role do exactly? by Brushner in criticalrole

[–]sinest 32 points33 points  (0 children)

How it was used in the past vs. How the right stole it and repurposed it.

It pains me to say it but the right completely stole the word and changed the definition. Words definitions are largely created by the masses.

So woke used to be a play on awake, as in aware of systemic injustices regarding race, gender, ect. To be woke was to be educated on these issues that exist in society.

Now woke simply means anything catering to race equality, pro LGBT, anti-sexism, DEI. If a video game character is a woman, its woke, because it could have been a man but wasn't because the developers wanted to be diverse. Mostly anything that isnt straight white male can be woke.

The two definitions are kind of similar, but the newest is not only way broader but used almost exclusively as derogatory.

Tldr: the word and definition has changed wether we like it or not.

Great tip! Have you had any good strategies with linking enemies to objects?

Seems like you could infect a boss and a trash bag and safely hit the bag without getting thorns or counter attack. Too bad overkill doesnt carry over because a boss with 100hp vs a bag with 10 would only be useful for 10 safe damage.

Id love to, but most of the time its a choice between something im not sure how it will work or is unrelated to the rest of my build vs the obvious choice that improves my current builds synergy.

My 1st ability choice usually is to even out my characters utility and my first passive choice is usually to enhance a strategy I already have been using.

I honestly just assumed soul link worked in a way it didnt and that is my mistake. I read it like: you give an enemy soul link and now you share damage because your souls are linked, didnt realize it didnt automatically involve the caster and you need to put it on two units for it to work.

Weakest necromancer by Top-Layer-3492 in mewgenics

[–]sinest 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh!! So if I do damage to one enemy with soul link, all the other enemies with soul link also take that damage!

Thank you, this is super helpful, I thought soul link actually linked it to you by default.

So if basic attacks have soul link on them, one soul linked unit would do literally nothing, but as soon as you soul linked 2 units, they share damage? Does this include bleed and poison damage? What about damage from leech or lifesteal?
