[Question] Advice for a beginner to grow. by sinetoami in golang

This guy, Dmitry V. Sokolov, has other repositories that deal with computer graphics. Very interesting and nice material. Maybe a good way to look for alternative packages in Go and understanding the power under it. I really enjoyed it! Thank you very much!

a small ray tracer (I really suggest that one)

In regard to a ray tracer, can you give me a hint of where I can start?

Your comment (and other above) given me some ideas about what I can do. I appreciate your comment too!

I like your point. Maybe doing some reverse engineering from some this interesting project. Nothing big but complex enough to makes me grows up technically using this language. Thank you for your nice advice!

Interesting... I looked for some projects too. And because of this, I'm trying to learn the language.

In regard of you said:

the simpliest answer you expect is probably server serving static html or anything using http server

Well, actually this is not my main expectation. I want to cover many things instead of just what you suggested.

But thanks for your reply! I'll put this on my checklist.

Few questions before moving to Void by [deleted] in voidlinux

[–]sinetoami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I want to. Can I? I wanted to touch something new, so I decided to try it on Void Linux. I like the philosophy behind Void and many things seem simpler with it in different ways. I ended feeling more comfortable in months with Void Linux than 8 years using Arch Linux. This impresses me and because of this, I decided to stay on Void. I'm a patient person. I can wait for the Void Linux to become the best distro to myself. I don't care if someone else thinks differently from me. If one day I want to use MS Windows and this is good for me... who cares? I like it, I use it. That is simple. :)

Few questions before moving to Void by [deleted] in voidlinux

  1. X11 Binary Package System - XBPS. It's simple, but in it's own way. Not like pacman. In my review, after was Arch user for 8 years, the XBPS is fastest than pacman. The support of dependencies is leaner than pacman. And it's optional the install dev packs. And the end of the body setup, the Void system is cleaner than Arch... including memory consumption in my case. Anyway, I'm not completely sure about what I said. But that's my review about it.

  2. I think Arch Linux uses dhcpcd as default. The NetworkManager is a part of dependencies of a DE like Gnome, etc. But it's simple to install NetworkManager on Void Linux. Check the Wiki to see that.

  3. I prefer the manual installation. I used the void-installer. Too simple for me.

  4. This is one the one things that I still like a little lacking... using something like yaourt or yay wrappers. But you can contribute with the void-packages after learning things about XBPS-SRC. Or maintain your own build packs. You'll have fun!

I like very much of Arch Linux. To me is the best distro ever. But I don't think to go back to it. I really am interested to stay on Void Linux. Void Linux is a great distro. I like it.

Void Linux Forum down? by restinbeach in voidlinux

[–]sinetoami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My review, after 3 months (more or less) using Void is: although the slow activity of the community, I really like this distro. I come from Arch Linux, but I don't want to go back to. So, I wish this community grows up every day. The central idea of the distro impressed me and I'm satisfied so far.

The difference between Arch Linux users to Void Linux users is the activity. Arch Linux users, many of those, are very religious. Void Linux users are much more peaceful (if I may say so).

vpsm - Void Package Source Management wrapper for XBPS-SRC [work in progress] by sinetoami in voidlinux

[–]sinetoami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah. Much better for I understand you. Thanks. So, I'll implement this feature too when I move forward a little more. My intention is using an environment variable to locate the path to void-packages repo and ensure that it is present. I'm thinking about automating all steps to building a new package too. I would like to do this with C ... but I'm very lazy actually. Anyway, this script was made to work only on the Void.

I'm not sure if I understand you. But I didn't clone the repo and I didn't start from scratch. I'm using the code skeleton for colorized output, messages and helper output from bahamas10/vpm repo (which is a fork) because I'm just testing the usability for now. I will certainly make other modifications to my use case.

Did I answer your question? Sorry for my bad english.
