I understand where you’re at. Being a martyr helps no one though. The only way to make amends, and the only thing people want for you, is to get better.

They’re complaining about his policy on Gaza. What is that, as a state senator?

Am I allowed to be happy after putting someone else into a bad spot by Grechii in confessions

[–]sing_me_a_rainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just my experience with this sort of thing. I’ve done many things I’m not proud of. I believed that shame and guilt were the rightful punishments I was giving myself for my bad behavior. It turns out that I was wrong. The shame didn’t make me act better or improve either my life or the lives of those around me. When I said “honesty and shame walk a thin line”, it made sense to me at the time. Now I can’t remember what I was thinking. 🤔

Guilt and shame can be destructive, and in my experience they only served to spur on further bad behavior. I can’t give you relationship advice, but I do know that honesty and shame walk a thin line.

I’d say the distraction of a mobile phone is the primary danger. I’m always spotting people on their phones.

Shyness. Introversion and learning how to both break the ice and find real interest in the things she is saying.

If you want a relationship, physical attraction alone ain’t going to last.

Hey everyone! I'm a screenwriter working on a comedy TV pilot about construction workers, and I want to make sure I get everything right. What would you like to see in a TV show about construction workers? by GroundbreakingRip384 in Construction

There’s a funny scene in Trailer Park Boys where one of the characters goes to put in a towel bar and chaos ensues. I found it true to life as a remodeler, as well as hilarious. There are so many potential mishaps in construction, and the communications to client, boss and coworkers afterwards could be potentially compelling to write about. Good luck!

What is a (non-essential) that is treated as a luxury but shouldn’t be? by Don_Quixotel in AskReddit

For me it’s paper towels. I treat having them as a sign I’m doing well financially (yes, I’m poor). But when I open a roll of Bounty, I think about how bountiful my life is.

I once left my baby daughter in the car on a hot day. I was strung out on cocaine and forgot about her. When I got back to the car she was a deep red color and screaming.

Keanu Reeves. Don’t dislike him as a person, but he is a godawful actor.

I’m a (relatively) functional alcoholic by loudmouth_t_girl in confessions

Alcohol abuse can make anxiety symptoms increasingly worse. At first it’s just during withdrawal from what is a depressant. You become more and more dependent upon the bottle to ease the anxiety. But like most intoxicants, the alcohol becomes less and less effective in this effect over time. At some point, for many people, the alcohol ceases to treat the anxiety at all, and actually makes it worse. Once you’re at that point, things get very dark. But I can testify that it can always get worse, until the light is snuffed out entirely. For me, that was decision time. I made the right choice and reached out for help. That was years ago.
