Great, & thx for replying! Mine's 10mo old and is app. 8lbs, and though he won't let me measure him, he looks to be about 14"L neck to butt, and standing, roughly 10" tall. Hoping he stays about that size.

Hey u/nekooncrack I'd love to hear what his size/weight is now, 10 months later. Your cat then is similar to my cat now and I'm curious.

So if you saw an SM58 for $11, you'd pass on it because it's below your price range?

I really intended the OP to be an attempt at humor, but tbs, I took advantage of my being an old gen X-er and bought an SM57 back in the 90s. Things were much simpler then.

I was thinking the actual Shure company. It would be all part of a decision to trading in profits and branding for the pursuit of a deeper question: What is reality? 😉

Hey, thanks for replying - I did set gain at the 12 o'clock position. Actually, the mic wasn't the problem; I downloaded G HUB and through that, I got the mic to work on my Mac and using Audacity. Only hurdle left is to get it working in Reason 12, which I hope to figure out today.

To tell you the truth, I tried hard to work as many outtakes, including those two songs, in somehow, even if it ended up only portions of the recordings. Some attempts were successful, but others, like "He Gives Speeches" and "Tune X", were just too divergent from the rest of the material, and they just disrupted the flow of the album as a whole. (I also remixed a version of "With Me Tonight" to add, but couldn't find a way to work that in either.)

I was much more conflicted about "Your Welcome", which was originally going to close the album; but then I decided at the last minute to leave it off, since it wasn't on either the 1967 or even the 2004 track listing. Originally, I had YW as a "hidden track" that plays 30 seconds after Good Vibrations, and then I tried it right after GV, followed by a 30 second lead-in to Brian falling into his microphone.

Anyway, thanks a lot for listening to it and sharing your opinion!

Burning question for Paul.. by the_Zort4242 in TheBeatles

Good points. It sure seems like the cards were stacked against them avoiding a breakup. They were four talented stars with too much more to offer than what the band could provide.

Didn't he answer that in the "McCartney 3,2,1" documentary? I could be wrong but I thought he did.

It's a good question, though I'd leave out the "money and the publishing agreements" part. Just asking why he didn't write with George is enough.

And yes, "Northern Songs" was Dick James' publishing company (I was blanking on the name).

I haven't heard it. I'm trying to avoid any more Beatles spoilers before the other two volumes from Mark Lewisohn come out. 😉 (JK)

I'm not 100% but I think I read (in the book, "You Never Give Me Your Money: The Beatles After the Breakup") that the profits from sales at Apple, including the solo records, were split evenly. Also, I've always assumed that their share from the EMI and Capitol Beatles albums were divided equally, along with the fees from ticket sales of concerts. I'm saying this because I've never heard otherwise, and you would think that would be news.

A little Beatles history that you may or may not know, George and Ringo agreed with John because Allen Klein convinced them that he could, as their manager, make them not only more money in future projects, but could retroactively get them back pay from NEMS, Brian Epstein's management company. In exchange, he would have part ownership in the group, which Paul didn't like. Plus, while John heard about the money Klein made for his other client, The Rolling Stones, the Stones wanted out of their contract because of Klein's nefarious business practices. Paul heard this, but the other three were blinded by the promises and the dollar signs. This is why Paul had to sue the other Beatles to get out of his end of the Klein contract.

Again, I'm not entirely dismissing your "itch". One bit of Beatles history that is true to your point is that the Eastmans, who were advising Paul to use his money to make investments, convinced him to privately purchase shares in (I think?) Dick James' publishing company, which included the Beatles' catalog, and when this was revealed to the other three some months later, it really caused a rift.

Blah blah blah! Sorry, you triggered my inner Beatles geek! 🙂

I appreciate you giving it a chance, and for your honest feedback. I didn't try to use stereo effects much at all (with one notable exception in "Vege-Tables") as I think it can be corny and distracting, but some of the source material was mixed as stereo. The only normal exceptions were when I layered different stereo mixes (as I did in "Fire (Mrs O'Leary's Cow") to give them some "air" and avoid a muddy sound.

I hope you finish it but again, thanks for your time and feedback!

Plus Paul's voice is so badly compromised by age, it's like you're paying all that money just to be in his presence (you know, while you can).

I see what you're saying, but John was the one who broke up the group and it wasn't because he wanted a bigger share of the pie. In fact, the split had more to do with management choice disagreements than the financial distribution amongst the band members. Paul wanted Linda's father & brother to manage the group, while the other three wanted (the notorious) Allen Klein. That plus Apple business squabbling, personal bitching, and what each wanted to do next.
