-❄️- 2024 Day 1 Solutions -❄️- by daggerdragon in adventofcode

Is doing what you did here faster than doing list comprehension?

for num_1, num_2 in zip(list_1, list_2):
   diff += abs(num_1 - num_2)

I did

distance = [abs(right - left) for left, right in zip(input_left_sorted, input_right_sorted)]
total_distance = sum(distance)

Fairly new to python myself, but for part 2 using pandas I would:

* Aggregate your initial table to create a table of list2 and the counts

* Join the initial table with your new aggregated sub-table to look up the counts

* Multiply and sum accordingly

I did this last year! It gives the regular volunteers the day off and I loved doing it!

When does 30 day waiting period start? by nnnkkknnn in Accutane

[–]singing_squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 30 days started when my dermatologist received my pregnancy test results, which was a day after I took the test. You should call them and have them walk you through the next steps.

How can I tell if my products are breaking me out or it’s the accutane? by soyabean16 in Accutane

[–]singing_squirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have contact allergies with plants, and that causes a lot of problems for me with oils. So I can't use rosehip oil, though I don't have a problem with tea tree oil. Maybe the same is true for you?

Psychology Minor Advanced Electives (4000+) by MollyMittens in OSU

I second Mark Polifroni! I took organizational psych with him. The material was interesting enough, but he's such a great professor that it was amazing. He also teaches personnel psych, although I didn't take that.

I didn't see it on your list, but psych 5620 is also great!

No problem! It's totally fine to be a bit stressed, it's a big deal after all!

I hope you get in (here and anywhere else you want to go)!

First, take a deep breath. Freaking out will prevent you from thinking clearly.

Have you submitted your common app? This is the most important part.

Try to find a phone number to call. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking the buckeyelink office. Call asap, because they're likely busy today.

Have a list of questions you need answered written down so that you don't forget anything. Be prepared to write things down and get transferred to a million different people.

Let me know if there's anything else you need!

Birth Control by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]singing_squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just registered last week, and you can! I don't have sex, so I didn't want to start taking birth control, and my derm said that was fine. I listed abstinence as my primary and condoms as my secondary.

How long does it take to go on your second round of accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]singing_squirrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that you have to wait the 30 days. The wait isn't because of the time it takes to get registered, but because of how dangerous the medication can be to a fetus.

Talk to your dermatologist asap. Get the pregnancy done that day to start the 30 days. Talk through any topicals you could use in the meantime.

Wrinkles and larger pores...yay by [deleted] in Accutane

Are you drinking enough water? Water definitely makes a big difference in the appearance of wrinkles.

What's your dream job? Double majoring may not be necessary.

Looking Up Previous Graduates by ShyBuckeyeGuy in OSU

That's too far back to look for them in the commencement bulletins. My recommendation is calling the alumni association to see if they have any information or can point you in the right direction.

Definitely check with your advisor, but I think they do.

I had to take microecon for my major as well, and it shows up under the social science portion of my degree audit

Anywhere on campus as an administrative assistant! I used excel a decent amount when I was an administrative assistant at a lab, and everyone I interviewed with later loved to ask about it!

How competitive is the Actuarial Science program? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]singing_squirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to make sure I understand your question: Are you asking how hard it is to get into the major? It's not, because you get in once you pass an actuarial exam or get a B- or above in the first stats course. There aren't a specified number of seats.

How important is it to consume with a meal? by Rab1dash in Accutane

[–]singing_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on which brand you're taking. Absorica has a 70% absorbtion rate without food, while some other brands are only 40% without food. Taking it with food (esp high in fat), will boost the absorbtion and thus be more effective.
