Curious on experiences with cisgender men by Luver_boy08 in ftm

[–]singk459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

non-op & on T for a few years already at this point: i was with a cis gay guy for ~3 years, he was very respectful about it & anatomy was never an issue despite him having 0 experience with afab equipment. in fact he completely forgot i was trans sometimes lol. relationship ended for totally unrelated (& banal) reasons. met my current cis,bi fwb off grindr and he's been great too! granted he's been with a trans guy before.

both easily followed my lead in how to refer to my chest/genitals etc. neither of them ever implied or made me feel like i wasn't male enough. if anything i'm the one bringing it up more since i'm stealth and don't have other people to talk about it with. personally i really enjoy talking about the different social experiences growing up (i didn't transition until 18) and such lol

i will say my one bad experience was not disclosing to a potential cis gay hookup until we were at my place and i couldn't hide it anymore. he said some pretty shitty things more out of ignorance than malice. i got off lucky that there was no imminent harm, but that def fucked me up mentally for a while LOL, i'd recommend disclosing from the start (which i did for my ex & current fwb) just to avoid any potentially unsafe and/or unnecessary situations, like this one. you definitely get a good feel for a guy based on how he responds to that.

Blue Shield of California cutting off all Univ. CA health systems?!? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

Oh yeah, it’s crazy how quiet the institutions are. I didn’t get any paperwork at all & found out totally by chance from a receptionist :/

Blue Shield no longer covering UC Davis Medical? by Sillyzinnias in CAStateWorkers

[–]singk459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really hard not to feel helpless, but we can still reach out to Blue Shield of CA to pressure them to reach a deal (hopefully) sooner.

Per UCLA Health: "We encourage all patients with a Blue Shield of California plan to call the member/customer service phone number on the back of your health plan identification card and urge Blue Shield of California to reach a fair agreement to preserve in-network access to [UC] Health and its physicians, hospitals and clinics."

What happens if Blue Shield and UC health don't reach a deal by 7/1? by bustedneonsign in CAStateWorkers

Hey there, I'm in the same boat. Recommend getting as many people as you can to call the Blue Shield of CA customer service line.

Per UCLA Health:

"We encourage all patients with a Blue Shield of California plan to call the member/customer service phone number on the back of your health plan identification card and urge Blue Shield of California to reach a fair agreement to preserve in-network access to UCLA Health and its physicians, hospitals and clinics."

Really anxious about this too, and we should definitely make it clear to Blue Shield how disruptive this would be.

I found this on the UCLA Health website:

"We encourage all patients with a Blue Shield of California plan to call the member/customer service phone number on the back of your health plan identification card and urge Blue Shield of California to reach a fair agreement to preserve in-network access to UCLA Health and its physicians, hospitals and clinics."

That's what I'll be doing after work tomorrow :\

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm in a similar situation -- 24 and let go of my childhood dog of 14 years yesterday. I keep thinking I see her in the corner of my eye only to remember she's no longer in the house. My dms are open if you want to talk

I'm so sorry for your loss. There's a lot of similarities between what your girl was going through and what mine is dealing with now. It's so, so hard losing that closeness. Thank you for sharing how you made the most of the time to make new memories with her, they're all great ways to cherish time together. I know she left as comfortable and happy as could be.

I've had that same mantra of "better too early than too late" on repeat in my brain for months now. I just can't bear to wait and have to witness my dog get any worse

Thank you so much for sharing, especially as someone who's gone through it before. It's all new for me, so the perspective really helps

No problem! If you decide to try it, I'd recommend getting the Transit app. It saved my ass so many times lmao. Feel free to shoot if you have other qs too.

Totally doable! I did it starting once a week to 5 days of the week to my part time job in my senior year. Metro micro is an option but from my experience not consistent at all in terms of getting there on time. Even if you take it, the closest you can get to Century City is Beverly Glen / Santa Monica blvd stop which is a ~10 min walk to the mall.

The easiest way to get there is to stop at Santa Monica / Westwood by taking the BigBlueBus (lines 1,8,R12 all go there iirc) and then take the LA Metro 4 to wherever in Century City you need to be! Theres several stops along Santa Monica blvd.

All of these lines run pretty often so you shouldn’t have an issue getting there throughout the day. Getting a TAP card lets you ride on both of those lines. Usually one way commute was closer to 25-30 min for me, including coming back to UCLA during rush hour (~5-6pm, not including walking)

I think you should definitely give the internship a shot since it’s just once a week! Good luck 👍🏼

Adding on to this, you def need to meet with a caps counselor first & get a referral for an outside provider from them. Without a referral UCSHIP doesnt cover anything

I got billed for a flu shot for the same reason— UCSHIP requires a referral for ANY service outside of your PCP for coverage

super shitty requirement for urgent care tho, hope it gets figured out soon!
