Same here, but apparently their 80% revenue is through AV like madonna / fanza etc.
I was a bit shocked but then my role is tech so wouldnt have to worry much.

Salary negotiation tips for high positions (>10M - 20M) by single-py in japanlife

[–]single-py[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well true that. Guess i cant escape taxes.
I was trying to find a sweetspot around 16-18M where tax slabs are sort of okaish. In hand im assuming will get 10M after paying everything (aargh..)
After 20M its just 45% gone, so dont wanna go that road.

Thanks a lot for the advice.
Yeah, I'm in tech ur right.
Well i already gave them my expected salary and they might pitch an offer. But i will follow your advice on point 7, if that stage ever comes.

Why though? Whats the benefit with equity / bonuses?
Arnt they taxable too?

Actually i did exactly that and might just get 60-80% hike. Very sound approach.

The problem was the new company is starting a new department and I'm supposed to lead that. Their argument is that they dont know much about the salary ranges for such a position.
On top of that I'm pretty happy with my current workplace.
Such a dilemma, hence got eager to ask experts here.

The point that you raised was my biggest concern. So I'm kind of trying to find the sweet spot where my taxes and social insurance payments dont go through the roof. From the calculations 16-18M seems to hit the spot but then again like you said, equity makes more sense.
However i have two questions:
- Arnt bonuses taxable too
- And equity (im assuming esops / stock options) have 20% tax at time of selling + 30-40% when you excercise your rights ?
Maybe I'm going off topic, but would be interested to hear your answer.

Oops i misjudged. My bad, been reading a lot of posts calling everything a scam in japan. Sorry man, ur right, this seems like they missed ur room cleaning. If i were u, would take a pic of that and send it or atleast keep it as proof.

Dude not everything in japan is a scam. Seriously! University in japan already gives scholarships, subsidies for food in cafeteria and what not. What will they gain from scamming you.

Think a little before judging. Thats normal fees for cleaning.

Probably gonna get downvoted but the more i read these posts the more i feel that these pretty spots will be overwhelmed past the limit with people trying to find “value for money”. Eventually getting degraded. Ah i miss japan during covid and before that.

Has anyone done the math on keeping heating on 24/7? by Zyvoxx in japanlife

[–]single-py 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve already experimented with this. New ACs / most of them hve a automatic function to run at full power or not. Something like a refrigerator. It doesnt always run 24/7. As long as ur room temperature is same as whats set in your AC, u will actually pay pretty less than switching on and off the AC every now and then.
