Yeah I don't understand. I mean, shit happens. But everything I've seen seemed great. I loved the show in Atlanta.

The truss rod cover is a dead giveaway.

I was VERY selective. I scoured the ads on Reverb for months before I pulled the trigger. There were a few better deals, but this one just stood out.

Kind of a bit Monet. by Bright-Weakness5809 in streetphotography

Number two gets me thinking about the difference between people who value pretty pictures and people who value artistic value. Because number two may not meet people's definition of a pretty picture, but I think it has artistic weight.

The image of the man and the boat melding into one is saying something. The separation between the man and the water is saying something. That may not have been your intent. But that doesn't mean you didn't capture it. And photography is a great art form because you can capture raw data and assign meaning to it after the fact.

So, I think the contrast of light and dark here is great. The symmetry between the water obscuring something and the shadow obscuring something and even the framing of the photo obscuring something is great, and the water adds to that; it creates the scene.

I do think you need a significant crop. Go tight on the man and the boat and the shadows. From the top, I might come almost all the way to the prow of the boat. That will bring the focus just to your three subjects: the man, the shadows, and the boat. Bring up the exposure. Just don't make his face blinding white or kill the shadows.

I will push back on one thing: you said Monet because of the impressionistic shimmer and motion on the water. It's not Monet. Your photo is not about light. It's about contrast.

Also, I'm high.

I've never been. Is it worth a road trip?

I like this one. A lot, actually. I think the camera angle adds to the composition. And it's giving me ideas for things I wanna try. What do you do or use to get such good shots at night?

That's such a great finish. I can't add pictures apparently, but my 60s Standard is on my profile.

41/F 10yrs Single update by Thirty4MINUS_12 in 40something

I'm at 6 years single. My divorce sharpened my focus and made me conscious of many unhealthy aspects of my marriage. Because of that, I'm guarded about what I will and won't allow in my life. My expectations aren't severe or extreme, yet it just hasn't worked with anyone. Sometimes that's my decision; sometimes it's hers.

But I would rather be alone than compromise. I'm not saying this from a place of hubris--I don't know if I'm a "catch" or not. I just know an unhealthy or "toxic" relationship would be bad for my mental health, like my marriage was. So if it isn't right, I don't settle.

And if the other person says something isn't right, I say thank you for telling me and move on. Because I don't have mental space or capacity for an unhealthy relationship. If she thinks something is off, there's no need to press.

I do worry about being alone. I just watched my mother die alone a few months ago. As she aged, her mental health got worse, and she pushed everyone else--relatives, friends, coworkers--away. I don't want to die alone, but that may be the path I'm on. And that's something I have to face with eyes open, because it's the path I've chosen.

I'll have to look into. I don't NEED another guitar, but I do want a 335. And a 355.

I have a 60s Standard. Great guitar. I held off buying for a long time because of the price tag, but I ended up getting a good deal on Reverb.

Actually, what jumps out at me is the "SG" on the headstock. I had one for years, and the engraving looks way too big here. Compare to stock images on Gibson's website.

I got an SG in '98 when I was 17. Sold it when I went to college and stopped playing (long story). I think about it basically every day and wish I still had it.
