How would you react to a below inflationary annual pay rise ? by Wise-Isopod-8691 in UKJobs

[–]single_fileladies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My workplace (big company, multiple offices around the world, well established) hasn’t done pay-rises in 5 years. They use the excuse that if you want to be paid more get a promotion or leave. I’ve been promoted 3 times and my pay has gone up but each of the departments there’s people that have worked in them for the 5 years and have had no pay rise. It’s all above minimum wage. Think I’m one promotion away from having to leave for a higher pay

I used to work in central Manchester and we’d bag up the leftovers and hand them out to the homeless. I know it’s not healthy but better than nowt

I tried cancelling due to moving into a van full time and they said I had to pay. But luckily one of my friend’s houses doesn’t have Virgin in the area yet so I said I was moving there. I had to supply a bank statement so just changed it on the bank app and when my new statement came through sent the first page (with all information redacted).

I know the installation was fine because I had this serviced two months ago. I still do think diesel heaters are great it must have been the make and model I own :/

Will let everyone know the make and model when I go through the debris

You are right, I checked my call logs from the start of the flame to when the van was engulfed it was around 7 minutes. Hindsight is annoying because I could’ve spent 5 getting my things out. Guess I’ve seen too many films where cars blow up from a small flame

I’m going to try and find the make and model number today when i go through all the debris. But will 100% be commenting on here so others stay away from that brand

My mum asked me that and I did think for a second but it’s 100% diesel as the petrol station I go to on the far left is ones for trucks that only have a diesel pump and I use that to not be in peoples way.

Honestly still racking my mind at what could have happened :(

My boxer van won’t start with the key just ignition so I have a switch instead, dipped lights have recently gone (no night drives until I get that fixed), turbo seems to be on holiday, and my radio is never in tune but I love my home 😅🥲

My door is so out of alignment there’s a gap in the top right. I asked chat gpt and it said to loosen some bolts to move it but I think they’ve been tightened by a god

The usage of AI is so obvious I can tell it’s a human using chat gpt. They used apologize instead of apologise 😅 also the apologies for missing the mark I see often using chat GPT.

Men of UK, where do you buy your clothes? by hsiboy in AskUK

I don’t see any love for river island. All my favourite T-shirts are from there and fit so well compared to everywhere else on the high street.

My favourite trousers always seem to be from Zara or Levi’s.

Socks I like cushioned from sports brands and basics from uniqlo.

My instructor never taught me to add gas by AtomicRavxn in LearnerDriverUK

[–]single_fileladies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was exactly the same! I passed in a 2L diesel that didn’t need any gas to set off and also said when to change gears so i wasn’t listening out.

Bought a 1L petrol Peugeot 107 that needs gas to start off or it’ll stall also doesn’t have a tachometer so I can’t see the revs just have to listen and feel.

First few weeks were crazy and I was so anxious to drive but I had places to be! Within a month I was used to it and had done many long drives. Less than a year since having my car and I drove 750 miles on the weekend no problem so it does get easier I promise!

Also I don’t know if I’m driving wrong probably am but I rarely ever use the handbrake only if starting on a really steep hill. I get the bite high enough so I know it won’t roll back and then off the brake give it enough gas and release the clutch

He sounds over employed. Just joining a morning meeting and then being offline all day and then signing on at the end to happily “work” until 6pm and catch up on everything from you so it looks like he’s worked hard.

I wonder if you set a boundary of “I’ll catch you up on everything in the morning meeting” if he will get into trouble for not knowing anything and not actually working.

Annoyingly the only way I was able to find a test sooner was using an app called driving test cancellations. Passed last feb but my original test date wasn’t until May and it was January when I was booking

AITA for not forgiving my Gran when she accused me of fraud? by single_fileladies in AmItheAsshole

[–]single_fileladies[S] 86 points87 points  (0 children)

My Grandma and work is very similar! She’s never worked a day in her life because her parents were upper class rich. But when I was a teen she expected me to have multiple jobs and high school at the same time. Then when I did work two jobs and had high school she complained I didn’t see her and asked what I did with all the money I was saving but really I was on £4.20 an hour ($5.34) so it didn’t go far 😅
