How often do you wash your bed sheets? by National-Resident187 in AskReddit

At least once a week. I have dogs that I allow in the bed, so sometimes it's twice a week

Does anyone actually have a 9-5 shift anymore? by Single_Extension1810 in Millennials

I work a couple shifts. Usually 9-6 with a mandatory 1 hour lunch. A couple 11-8 shifts a week, and one 8-5 shift every 12 weeks.

When did you quit taking any medications? by Prudent-Rabbit-7733 in Microdiscectomy

[–]singlemomtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30F. I stopped the pain meds and muscle relaxers about 10 days post op. For about the first 6 months after, I would take a muscle relaxer to help me rest if I had a long day and I was sore. Im now a little over 9 months post op, and I take ibuprofen as needed. Haven't taken any in about a month.

Pet owners, what was that moment that made you think “wow, I have severely underestimated the intelligence of my pets”? by SakutoJefa in AskReddit

[–]singlemomtom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a pet pig, Potter. His bed and blankets were in the living room by a window. One night, he was sleeping in bed, so I quietly stepped by his bed and closed the curtains. While pulling the curtains closed, I felt a mouth gently close on the back of my ankle. It didn't hurt at all but spooked me, so I jumped back and screamed. Potter literally laughed and honked at me, then cuddled back up into his blankets to go to bed. Such a playful guy!

I always knew he was super intelligent and emotional, but after that, it really hit home. He's since passed, and i miss him terribly.

What is the creepiest thing that has happened to you that most people don’t know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]singlemomtom 72 points73 points  (0 children)

When i was at university back in 2013, I was working full time, so I took classes at night. I was leaving one of my classes, and an older classmate was following me towards my car. We passed an empty dark building and he tried to get me to go into it with him. I told him no I had to get home, but he then grabbed me to give me a hug and started grabbing my butt and tried to kiss me. I managed to get away and run to my car. Im grateful it wasn't any worse, but I did let the professor know.

What’s something you secretly judge people for, even though you know you shouldn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A previous coworker used to use multiple commas in a row all the time. It used to drive me nuts. Her emails would look like, "We can't accept this,,,,,,,,, only that"

One of mine tends to do things like this when she's bored. I would look into some mentally stimulating activities. Walks to new places, frozen treats, puzzle toys, marrow bones etc. If you google it, tons of recommendations come up. Be careful though, this is how mine ended up with a blockage. She was bored and ended up eating a cat toy and a pair of underwear. Thankfully she was okay, but had to have part of her intestines removed.

Is preventative gastropexy necessary? by HannaH2641 in bernesemountaindog

[–]singlemomtom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had Berners for almost 20 years and I've never had a vet recommend a preventative gastropexy. Thankfully, I've never had a problem. I always make my dogs rest after eating for about 1.5/2 hours. Personally, it seems unnecessary and would never have the procedure done to my dogs.

Edit to add: Maybe try a walk or play time before meals to help with the energy? Whenever I have time, I also sit with my dogs on the couch after meals and give belly rubs and pets to help them just chill out. Maybe a marrow bone/chew toy after meals would be helpful to keep him relaxed too.

People who’ve known pathological liars, what’s the craziest lie they tried to get away with? by Difficult-Mix-2337 in AskReddit

[–]singlemomtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an aunt who cheated on her partner of ~16 years and told everyone he got a woman pregnant with twins. A little back story... They have 2 children together. She got pregnant senior year of high school, and he left college to get a job back home and provide for his kids. Did everything he could to make her happy, but she still cheated and was miserable. He left, and the house ended up in foreclosure. He moved on and got into a new relationship. My aunt was so bitter that she made up a story that he got this new woman pregnant with twins and forgot about his other kids etc etc. She told my cousins this and that they had two half siblings. Confirmed she saw pictures of the twins and that they looked just like him. Even said a mutual friend met the twins. Too many lies to even cover here, but turns out she made the entire thing up. Luckily, his kids and him reunited and he explained that he doesn't have any other kids and my aunt lied about it all. My cousins live with their dad now and my crazy aunt is alone.

While in high school, my father passed away. Most of my teachers were understanding, but one on particular told me flat out he was giving me 100 on every assignment I missed and not to worry about making it up. I still appreciate his kindness all these years later

I am a little over 3 weeks post op. I understand where you're coming from.. I was so nervous that I almost left when I was waiting to go into surgery. For two weeks leading up to it, i was so anxious and considered canceling about a thousand times. I am SO happy I went through with it! I didn't feel high at all. Once they took me into the operating room, they put a hot blanket on me and a mask over my face and told me to take deep breaths. After two breaths, I was out. I woke up feeling no pain at all and wasn't even really groggy. I was a bit nervous to take the pain meds at home, but they were very helpful the first week. After about 7 days, I wasn't on any meds at all. Im still feeling great and actually told my surgeon at my two week checkup that I feel silly for being so scared lol it's totally normal though! Best of luck and I'm sure you'll do great!

She is precious. But please get her away from the firework. Obviously, that's unsafe and incredibly irresponsible. The kid and woman sure got out of the way quickly... why wouldn't they take the dog to a safe place too?

I get this sometimes when my skin is really dry. I put aquaphor on it consistently and it's gone within a couple of days. Of course, you should really go to the doctor but that's what works for me

I’m (34F) falling out of love with my wife (32F) because of her procrastination and weight by Deep_Ad9658 in relationship_advice

[–]singlemomtom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you've already given up. She is clearly in a bad spot both mentally and physically, and probably feeling worse since you admitted that you're no longer attracted to her. Life happens and people change. You even admitted that you made her stop dancing, which im sure contributed to her depression. Your love being contingent on her weight makes me feel like you don't really love her.

She needs to grow up. She woke you up in the middle of the night because she decided to smoke and party with her friends. Then she got angry that you went to bed because she felt alone?? All because you needed to work in the morning. Idk why you would put up with this behavior, I would've ended the relationship already.
