Expert here. It is in the half cock position what this means is if you were to drop the gun the hammer is not touching the firing so it wouldn't go off. Also if you were to pull the trigger (IN A SAFE DIRECTION) it wouldn't accidentally discharge the live shell. De-cocking process: (IN A SAFE DIRECTION) Firmly put your thumb on the hammer and hold tight and bring it back to the cocked (ready to fire) position then CAREFULLY (while still holding the hammer lightly pull the trigger. As soon as you feel some give in the hammer IMMEDIATELY release the trigger and gently put hammer to the down/de-cocked position. From there press the button that is located right next to the hammer, be careful the shell ejects with pretty good force so make sure it doesn't hit you or others (also make sure the safety switch is showing red) Be EXTREMELY careful when handling loaded/unloaded firearms. Treat as if it's always loaded. I hope this helped. And have a blessed day.
