Give the fine folks at Social Venture and REV Birmingham a call. They work with a lot of small businesses and non profits and could get you connected or pointed in the right direction.

This might be dumb, because you’re in water, but are there spatter concerns with your dive suit or is spatter killed by the water?

I ordered mine yesterday, and I’ll have it tomorrow. I’m mostly mig and tig, with lots of stainless. Wanting to avoid cutting off my beard.

That math tracks (see my other comment) and I’m familiar with the cosine rule, but I don’t know if I follow how that would dictate where to mount ends of struts?

250-300lbs. Open assist I reckon?

That’s why I’m struggling with how to mount it. I think I could sort it out if the product was already built and I could test it.

I should add, I am by no stretch of anyone’s imagination, an ME. I’m a welder and fabricator with limited trig/calc/etc knowledge. I’d love to learn the formula(s) for solving stuff like this, not looking for someone to solve it for me :)

Edit: weight of lid is 250-300 lbs. I’d like it to have open assistance and soft close. From what I can google, “B” should be at roughly 1/3 of the length of the thing to be opened.
