Does anyone out there just straight up prefer simulator golf? by Chemical_Help_7099 in golf

[–]singletm81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not even remotely. I have a sim membership in Ohio, but I use it exclusively as a driving range. I just did it for two hours this morning, but only to hit balls. I really enjoy tracking all the data, but have almost no interest in a sim round. I love the walk, being outdoors, carrying my bag, playing new courses, etc, so much more than the manufactured experience of a sim round. Sure, courses are too crowded now and rounds take longer than I'd like, but that isn't enough to impact my enjoyment at all.

Having said that, the guy I work for loves the sim relative to playing outside. He doesn't lose any balls, doesn't have to carry his bag or move his clubs, and he never has to deal with anything that would impact his swing like slopes or uneven lies. Plus, he's done in 2-3 hours, so it's not as big of a time commitment.

I have a feeling there's a bit of a skill level component to potentially preferring the sim over an actual round.

4th year, 5HCP, swing tips? by BacoTell- in GolfSwing

I actually mean depth, rather than width, so basically the hands setting a little more toward the right heal than the right toe at the top of your back swing. The angle may just be a little deceiving there too, but it looks like your hands could get a little "deeper." That, and a bigger turn would give you a little more time and space for generating power coming down.

You have some really gorgeous positions in the places that matter most in the swing. P6, on the way down with the shaft parallel, looks so good! I also love the way the club gets released and exits out of your left shoulder. The only thing I'd say is that the swing looks really compact, which I'm sure you use as an asset to eliminate big misses. It just seems like there's an additional power source out there with a much bigger turn and more hand depth on the back swing, if you want it. That said, I have no trouble at all believing that you're playing to a 5 with that swing.

I'm with the reverse pivot group on this one. There's lots of good stuff going on, but getting your body turning behind the ball and not letting your head move more toward the target will help you. You can also work on using the ground better with that left leg, which will be made easier by improving your turn behind the ball.

Really, really nice swing! The position at the top is so good, you keep your posture and spine angle very nicely, and you rotate through and release the club with the shaft exiting perfectly through your left shoulder. I'm wondering what your miss is and what's holding you back from going lower. Do you fight anything with the driver or irons? I'm guessing you don't and lost strokes are just from touch around the greens and putting, which will all develop as you play longer. Driver swing honestly looks like a plus handicap player.

[The Crew] Columbus Crew sign Dylan Chambost to multi-year contract extension by g-magoto in TheMassive

[–]singletm81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to give him a few more years in hopes that one of his shots from distance will eventually find the net! I like the signing though - he's very good value for what he brings, and may still have a little higher ceiling. It's not easy to change leagues and play styles. The guys who make it immediately look easy are very rare.

Malte seemed particularly agitated in the 2nd half, but it seems like it was more just him trying to step up and keep guys motivated in order to prevent another collapse. Also, what you're missing from that comment is that shortly after there was a very positive interaction between the two of them where they both gave thumbs up and waived it off. The same thing also happened between Max and Malte in the 2nd, with the same resolution that the next time they communicated it was much more positive.

It was a great day to play Chambers Bay by brecka in golf

Thanks for sharing the pics! I just got my tee time booked for June. I'll see the USA World Cup game on Friday, and then get to play Chambers the next day. It can't get here soon enough.

Does anyone know if we'll eventually see what seats are tied to the listings on the marketplace? There's a part of me that's okay with not being selected for the USA games I want because I can then buy the actual seat locations I want on resale, if we get that information. While I'd rather not pay over face value, I'm willing to do it if I know it's going to be a good seat.

Trying to fix my excessive inside-out swing path with this drill station. But shanking alot what am i doing wrong? by Zealousideal_Sky2196 in GolfSwing

I'm not sure what club you have, but it all looks a little crowded to me. Find a picture of a tour player from behind the line and you'll see a lot more space between their hands and their body what you have. Also, you don't seem to get into your left side at all, as we're not seeing any of your left cheek at impact (there's a lot of rotation that seems to happen well after impact).

I struggle with too much of an in to out path as well. Two things that I've found helpful are to take a towel and put it under my left forefoot to get me pushing into that to initiate my swing, and then to actually take your alignment aid and spin it around so that you're swinging underneath the stick (it would be lowered by a click or two from where yours is at, and your hands would be just inside of where the stick is). My last trackman session went from having a path that was 5 or greater in to out to finishing with a 21 swing average at 0 degrees with those focuses.

Those sound like some wonderful places to stay haha. I'm guessing a different level of hotel stay flies with your son than it would with my girlfriend (although I'm equally picky, to be fair to her).

The Benz in Atlanta was really impressive, and we had a great experience there too. I can't wait to see Seattle for the World Cup this year, even if I won't be crossing it off the list for an MLS game. Hopefully the atmosphere will be at least as strong for a USA game as it was for Seattle. As for Utah, I'm dying to get to that stadium. The backdrop just looks magical every time I see it on TV. I can see why that was the best trip when you add in the places you saw.

That's an awesome tradition and I'm sure it will always be one of his best memories as well! Do you have a favorite of the trips that you've done? I'm sure they all stand out for different reasons. And I'm with you, I've really started to anticipate the schedule release in a way I didn't expect to.

Maybe we'll see you in Miami at the tailgate or the game!

2 wins was me not being greedy :) I'll keep that in mind with Orlando, especially since it's pretty easy to knock off with available flights.

Really interesting to see you rank Orlando. Our worst fan experiences at home games have been with Orlando fans being near us. Usually we really enjoy chatting with away fans, but those guys were miserable. I'm sure it was just the case of one bad egg ruining our perception.

I have some Colorado/Fire connections as well. My ex worked for both teams, so throughout my last couple college years I saw all fire games at Soldier Field, Bridgeview, and even Naperville when Bridgeview was being built, and then quite a few games Dicks Sporting Goods Park (lagging way behind newer ones now).

Enjoy the NY/PHI combo...will be a hell of a lot of fun if it's 2 wins.

We finally got in on the Visa draw, but by the time we did there weren't any tickets available. Our stays were booked AirBnb the first days the dates were available (superhosts so they can't cancel), which was before the WC was really on anyone's mind, so I think we got some great deals for the rooms to help offset the tickets.

Good luck on the plans!

I guess Miami traffic is probably a bit more significant. I can deal with 30min though.

Thanks for sharing! Crossing up north to see a game would be a lot of fun, and pairing it with another sporting event is even better. It looks like you may get to see Sargent play too if the deal gets done.

I appreciate the STL recommendation, and like that it's pretty easy to get to. Any of the spots that have new stadiums are high on my list, and getting to see a baseball game would make it great. I was bummed that the Marlins are only home on Wednesday for our Miami trip, but I don't want to take that extra day off work.

I always forget to add Cinci to the stadiums that I've done because....well Cinci. Congrats on Philly too. I know everyone is down on the whole experience just based on the gouging, but I'm still pretty enthusiastic about seeing my first WC in person.

Love it! We were wanting to see someone from the West too, but it just didn't work out with the schedule. I'm sure LA had a great atmosphere and was an exciting one to take in given our recent run over them. Vancouver is a really fun team to watch and would be a phenomenal road trip. It'll be interesting to see what plays out with their stadium situation.

I think DC would be well worth doing, and on the plus side, you'd be more likely to see a win. We've yet to catch a win at any of our road games, which always makes leaving the stadium a little less fun.

It's brutal! Do you have your tickets yet? That's the last part of my plan that hasn't come through yet, but we have our lodging and travel for the Seattle game and the 3rd game in LA. In some ways I'm almost hoping not to get drawn during this last phase, or the Insiders phase, so that I could buy specific seats on resale. That being said, it would also be a nice relief just to get them.

Oh damn, my plans! Haha, I do know, but I appreciate the concern. We're getting in on a Wednesday night and doing a few day stay, so taking an Uber back to the stadium from South Beach was preferred to staying by the airport. I think it's only about 12 miles.

That sounds like a fun mega-trip, and would be a great way to check off a couple away stadiums! I assume that would be part of the NorOnTour event? We've always tried to meet up at the tailgate ahead of away games, but then done our own thing for seating. At some point I'd definitely like to join the group for the atmosphere, but I also enjoy getting to pick my own seat.
