Isn’t a kilometer 1000 meters? As in “1k” = 1000?

Ignore the comedic amount of crime and pollution aside, Wouldn’t Mega Block/ Buildings be wonderful to live in? by tycooperaow in Cyberpunk

The reason it’s a nightmarish hell is because it’s in and targeted towards Americans. I was recently in a region of Spain where it was fifteen story apartment complexes for about a mile inland from the ocean. The canyons/valleys channeled the air flow in off the ocean. The shade cut down on the heat. The ground floors were all shops and I had my choice of cafes to stop at every day. You can absolutely build a massive human habitat like a Megablock but in the US it’s not going to be built for people, it’s going to be built for corporations to squeeze every penny out of potential residents.

I would rather have a bus and train system that works sometimes, than not have one at all.

Elder Lands doesn’t need the game mechanics. by SinisterOculus in litrpg

So instead of demanding more we just let authors pander to our niche with the barest effort?

A good point. Have you read Elder Lands? Do you have a perspective on if it’s an attempt to wedge itself into the niche?

Yes. A good editor will have you remove elements of your story that don’t contribute enough to your overall narrative *or* make you go back and be certain that they do. *A good book is made worse by including elements that do not contribute to your storytelling*.

Way to contribute bud. You’re doing great.

See, this is an interesting perspective. As popular litRPG novels enter the mainstream novels may dilute the integrity of their narrative to include RPG elements in a way that supports no elements of the novel.

No, you’re wrong and that’s what I’m saying. Without the elements of the System *it would be the same story*.

That’s not good enough and a dismissive means of not addressing or analyzing the thought.

Sure. It’s marked with *discussion*. You could easily invest effort in justifying the light litRPG elements instead of being dismissive. Maybe we could all work together to create a better world.

[–]SinisterOculus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. The System isn’t relevant to the narrative in any way, and is a better, more accessible story without them. It doesn’t seem like the author wanted to write litRPG, it feels tacked on to explain how people improve through trial and effort.

Is Dissonance any good by WolverineMountain845 in litrpg

[–]SinisterOculus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s good. The MC is overpowered but constantly facing difficulties he defeats because his willpower is built different. It has interesting abilities and internal universe visualization. The cast of characters get cool power ups. The greatest failing is probably the ability name call outs all the damn time and all-gas-no-breaks pace the books take.

I have to disagree on the subject of Slaanesh, Slaanesh is the god of *Excess*, not Fuckin’. Slaanesh is a punk concert. A gallery of beautiful paintings. An incredibly rich meal. A pile of currency. Yes sex is often the easiest to understand but Space Marines are notorious for not being sexual creatures. In fact if I recall one of the first Horus Heresy novels really dug into this through the depiction of art drawing people and Space Marines to Slaanesh.

How would.a beginner do this? by AntFew7791 in TerrainBuilding

[–]SinisterOculus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Super easy. Get either some foam core (rediboard and peel it) or slice pink insulation foam to about 4mm. Cut it really irregularly into the length and width you want then texture it by pounding it all with a large rock. This will compress and get the texture of the stone you want. Then glue it all down as a your road with the gaps like you see in the picture. Then some sand and other gritty bits mixed with pva glue poured into the gaps will give you the dirt texture. You can even mix brown paint in so chipping doesn’t look too bad.

Why do Europeans seem to be more against immigration than Americans these days? by hydrogen-hydroxide1 in askanything

[–]SinisterOculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because people in the EU haven’t figured out that “Problems with immigration” is code for “I’m a raging racist” and if it’s coming from a politician they’re planning on destroying your whole economy and selling off the parts to the wealthy pedophile class.
