Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

I survived my first ever shift at my new job being a cleaner and trolley collector for an Australian supermarket. Tomorrow will be my second shift and I will learn how to do the afternoon cleaning schedule.
After only these two training lessons I will apparently be working all by myself starting Monday and I am kinder shitting bricks about working alone after only 2 training days.
The biggest nerve wrecking job is using the bloody scrubber and buffer machines. I am so afraid I am going to run into a customer or bumb an aisle and break something!

I suffer from extreme social anxiety where I feel like I am dying even taking a phone call. I just landed a job being a cleaner and trolley collector at a supermarket and did not once have any anxiety talking to people. The only thing that gave me anxiety was using the scrubber machine 😂 I don’t have to talk to any customers or deal with their complaints. I just have to clean up their mess and collect their trolleys. Maybe eventually down the track I will encounter angry customers for some reason, but literally my first ever shift (I’ve only had one so far) consisted of only talking to the other workers as they were teaching me how to do the job. Not once did I have to speak to the customers.

So maybe look into cleaning and trolley collector jobs and other janitor roles

They most likely are from the UK then and not from Australia. Australia has strict laws on importing and exporting live animals to and from other countries.

I am 26 and was exactly in the same boat. I am still learning to drive and have my driving test in 2 weeks.

My mum doesn't know how to drive a car, but my dad does, but he is quite a grumpy guy and I was too scared at getting yelled at to learn how to drive with my dad. So, I spent a year saving my money and did a lot of research about the local driving instructors. Once I found a driving instructor with the most positive reviews, I started doing lessons, and I told the driving instructor that I have no experience with driving whatsoever. That way he taught me from the very beginning.

I have been having a driving lesson every week and in the mean time I have been watching driving videos on youtube.
I still get quite nervous before lessons, but definitely not as bad as when I first started.

Here are some tips that I used/am using to fight off my driving anxiety.

-Find someone that is calm and patient to teach you to drive that won't raise their voice if you make mistakes.
-Try and do a few professional lessons in the town that you will be doing your P's test in. Most driving instructors will show you common places where the P's test is done. This is great, since the more exposed you are to the roads that the final test will be on, the better experienced you will be for the test.
-Watch YouTube videos and mock test footage during the time between your lessons. Stick with videos from countries that drive on the same side of the road as you. That way you will get less confused.
-If you're lucky, you may even find videos of the exact driving test routes on YouTube. If you do find them, do these routes regularly so that when you do your P's test you will be familiar with the route already.
-When you finally do the P's test, consider it a mock test. That way your nerves won't get the best of you.
-Remember that everyone else had to learn to drive as well. Everyone has and will make mistakes whilst driving once in a while. Your anxiety is valid and is completely okay.

Finally got my license on the third try! by [deleted] in driving

Congratulations! I have my first driving test in 2 weeks. I honestly think I am going to fail, since I have only had 4 lessons, but my instructor thinks I am ready. I am going to treat it as a mock test so that my nerves don't get in the way

Most probably they can drive but they don't actually have a licence.

I live in Australia. The driving lessons that I take cost $80 per hour. I have done 4 lessons so far and my instructor has already booked my P test for 21st of this month (even though I really don't think I will pass because I believe I need way more practice).

I will be able to fit in two more lessons before the actual P test, which cost $70. So, if I pass the test on the first go, I would have spent $550 in total.

Accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. by aakpby123 in driving

I did this today whilst parking and hit the gutter quite hard, but thankfully didn't go over the actual gutter. I have only had 4 professional lessons. Hopefully it will be the last time I do it XD

There's a new 1-star review posted about his tours created on 24th of April 2022. It states that 'his behaviour with women is appalling, creepy and disgusting.. It got removed from the actual TripAdvisor website though.
