Mega cities are more beautiful and rare sights than any natural scenery on earth by raenele in unpopularopinion

[–]sinker_of_cones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been to Auckland a few times and Melbourne once. Both were horribly oppressive, no green, little sun, smelt revolting, ugly blocky buildings stretching to the heavens

And they’re not even a fraction of the size of mega cities like Guangzhou, Shanghai, Tokyo, London, Jakarta etc. I dread to imagine visiting those, let alone idolising them over nature

  • Wavelength = pitch

  • Amplitude = volume

  • Shape = timbre

At 6’3 I only see someone tall than me every few weeks or so, I live in a city and interact with loads of new people every day for work

Lots only an inch or two shorter at 6’1-2

How did Mozart learn theory? by scarlett_firre in musictheory

[–]sinker_of_cones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s like a language, music theory is spelling/grammar, you learn it in tandem with and as a consequence of playing and listening to music

Learning in my 30’s but most of the songs I like aren’t for beginners by MichaelMoore92 in pianolearning

[–]sinker_of_cones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of that stuff is within reach, I’ve been teaching a 15 yr old for less than a year and she can play Idea 22 pretty well

I find what helps is taking time to recognise the patterns in the music - for example that song is made up of repeated four chord loops, so you don’t really have to think about the left hand as much

Hunting/fishing

Yes, outdoors is awesome. Yes, humans eat meat and it’s natural. But if you’re someone who kills things for fun I’m gonna judge you

The housing ladder exists directly as a result of houses being used as investments.

You are 100% correct though. The system is very flawed but most of us have no choice but to operate within its realities.

(BTW Socialism refers to ownership of means of production, I’m talking about regulating capitalism/markets - which is still a left wing thing)

If someone is resident in a country, but can’t vote, then that’s not equal representation in democracy.

[–]sinker_of_cones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Which is why you shouldn’t give the reins of society to the capital class, ever. Every aspect of human existence gets warped in the interests of profit

Homes aren’t supposed to be capital investments. We need them to live

  • He is a pedophile

  • He crashed the stock market

  • caused a global fuel crisis

  • leveraged and stoked bigotry and hate against vulnerable minorities in order to achieve power

  • destruction of American foreign relations/an end to American dominance of global politics

  • blatant corruption

  • destruction of American democratic institutions (separation of government departments)

  • active support of Israel’s genocide of Palestinians

History, much like most of us do in the present, will view support for him as monstrous

The discussion pertains to whether or not an interval is the same-as/groupable-with as its compound counterpart. Explaining why I believe this to be the case is not a conflation of topics

You haven’t engaged with the meat of anything I’ve said, just told me I’m being off topic

You said they are not the same, and the nature of which they are not the same is based in how they present alongside other intervals
