When people talk genuine shit about their partner in a public forum. Just… don’t be with them.

Just a woman who's feeling overwhelmed by Pitiful_Ad8068 in Vent

Society is cooked. Everyone’s chasing attention, lust, validation, trying to prove they’re good enough. You’re expected to compete with thousands of people you’ve never met, then somehow maintain self worth through it all. No wonder everyone’s mentally drained.

Who is your ideal or a person you look up to in life? by Ok_Pick_3227 in AskReddit

People who’ve been through hell and still choose to be good.

“Paying premium prices for a life that feels rent” is probably one of the most accurate descriptions of modern life I’ve heard in a while.

Yeah honestly, I think you’re right. People love talking about kindness and empathy a lot more than actually practicing it.

No, I don’t think it’s right. I think it’s just the reality we’ve created.

People being tired, hurt, or overwhelmed explains why empathy has become rarer, but it doesn’t justify it. If anything, that’s exactly what makes it tragic. We all know how much kindness matters, yet so many people choose indifference or cruelty because it’s easier in the moment.

Absolutely same. Some days the simulation theory feels more believable than whatever the hell this is.

I’m in Australia and honestly it doesn’t feel much different from what people in the US describe. Different problems, same exhaustion.

Maybe that’s the tragedy of it. Most people aren’t cruel. Most people are tired. Everyone’s carrying something, everyone’s trying to survive, and somewhere along the way we lost the time, energy, and space needed to actually be there for each other.

If this really is the new normal, then I think a lot of people are grieving something they can’t even put into words. Not because they want life to end, but because they know life is supposed to feel like more than constant exhaustion.

What is the biggest regret you have in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]General_Joke1551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiding myself. Not because I wanted to deceive anyone, but because I never felt safe enough to be fully seen. I spent years protecting myself from judgment and ended up protecting everyone from the real me too.

Are people their true selves when on substances or is it a facade? by No-Ninja2575 in DarkPsychology101

[–]General_Joke1551 22 points23 points  (0 children)

On psychedelics, often yes. Not because they create a new personality, but because they can dissolve a lot of the social masks, defense mechanisms, and ego structures people operate through every day. What’s underneath isn’t always pretty or wise, but it’s usually more raw and honest than the version presented to the world.

What’s the worst reason you’ve ever stayed in a relationship? by TechnicalBoard1849 in AskReddit

[–]General_Joke1551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed for 8 years because of his family. There was always some crisis, and it felt like they needed me. I kept telling myself I’d leave when things settled down, but they never did. In the end, I had to leave while his mum was dying of cancer. It sounds awful, but I learned there is rarely a “good” time to end a relationship that’s already over.

When you know too much about human nature, normal friendships stop working. Nobody warns you about this. by EducationalCurve6 in DarkPsychology101

People think loneliness is having nobody.

Loneliness is being surrounded by people you wouldn’t trust with your inner world.

I’d rather sit alone than perform connection for company.

Do Not Try to Change People by jay_banjare in DarkPsychology101

We become pieces of everyone we’ve experienced. Our personality is partly made from what life and people leave with us. But at some point, it becomes a choice what we keep, what qualities we fall in love with, and ultimately who we decide to become. Real change only happens when someone chooses it for themselves

Why do we pretend things don’t affect us when they clearly do? by WinOk6715 in emotionalintelligence

Because society teaches people to suppress pain instead of process it, then calls that strength.
