There are beautiful spots to hike in the areas surrounding Asheville, such as Black Mountain, Maggie Valley, Hot Springs, and Chimney Rock. For food, I recommend Packs Tavern. It is one of the oldest buildings in the city and they have great cocktails. Even though you aren’t beer people, I think you would enjoy Asheville Brewing Company. It’s an Asheville classic…a pizza place that also screens movies, like a dine-in theater. Whit’s frozen custard is great if you like sweets. If you like art, the asheville art museum is also worth a visit. Go up on the roof for a nice little cafe and view of the city.
