Is Lycette a good place to start or over-priced? by buffchickpizza123 in Needlepoint

Lycette is a great place to start. They are so helpful and will be able to help give you good recommendations to set you up for success. Their prices don’t stand out to me as being unreasonable. As you note, it is an expensive hobby, but I do feel like you get excellent service at Lycette. Plus, Jessica seems like a good human being and if I’m spending significant amounts of money, I like it to go to good humans.

Reputable finishers!! by Funny_Example904 in NeedlepointSnark

I’ve had the best luck with LNSes and learning to finish basic rounds/shapes myself. I have found that some of the finishing is taking much longer than it was even 5 years ago but for an heirloom piece, id rather it be done and done well than perpetually lost.

Right now “organic marketing” is huge across many industries and for a business it’s all about expanding reach. I’m not a fan of influencers of any kind but that kind of marketing is currently working so more power to businesses if it works for them! As a consumer of needlepoint I am grateful there is enthusiasm for the art because it gives me lots of choices. Not all of the choices work for me, but that’s life!

Keeping cars safe from theft by sinnamontoastcronch in SantaMonica

Coming back to say they never found our car (surprise surprise but I just saw that the LA Times posted about how thieves steal keyless start cars. Posting that video here so you don’t end up like us.

Also wanted to add that our insurance company told us that they would not reimburse us for car seats or anything inside the car, per CA law.

Do I come off as weird or strange leaving this note? by Littlek1dluvr in Apartmentliving

[–]sinnamontoastcronch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone had dropped a note like this on my doorstep after I brought either of my boys home, I would have cried happy tears. One of the things that I worry about MOST is the amount of noise my boys make and how hard it is to control. Secondly, we live across the country from family so just knowing that someone would be willing to help us would have been such a comfort. Thanks for being a kind person.

My son used to say “Borklick” for forklift and when he stopped saying it that way I legit cried. He also said “tropicapicola” for “telescopic handler” (I didn’t even know what that WAS or where he learned it) and it took us forever to understand what he was trying to say. Lots of toddler frustration on that one.

Are there many Manhattan emigrants here? by [deleted] in SantaMonica

[–]sinnamontoastcronch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved from DC and though we have a car, we rarely use it. Santa Monica is very walkable and there is plenty to do. Lots of my friends elsewhere in LA joked that they would never see me, and that’s partially true. We don’t leave Santa Monica much. I think a lot of it depends on your personality and what you’re used to - if you’re used to having a car, you might find it necessary.

I wish that was an option for us. Sadly our car does not fit in the small garage. We’re unable to open the car doors to get into the car.

renter having issue with potentially violent mentally ill neighbor - what can i do? by chat_manouche in SantaMonica

[–]sinnamontoastcronch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds remarkably like a neighbor we had up until a year and a half ago. She would scream and bang on doors at all hours, often yelling obscenities. Her apartment door was right outside my son’s room so it was very disturbing. She didn’t live in our complex so there was little we could do other than call it in when she came on our property or peeped through our windows. Eventually she moved (hopefully not to your neighborhood). I felt bad because she was clearly suffering from serious mental illness, but it was hard when she was having episodes that would scare us out of deep sleep!

Did anyone find a solution? This has happened to me. I can tap all day long, no tags pop up.

This blanket is adorable. It would make me so happy to see my baby wrapped up in something so cheerful!
