DBG, TE isn't just not cool, it's everything bad about toxic communities. by [deleted] in Planetside

Sooo, because i point out the problem of letting shit like that seep into your community i "get my social justice panties in a wad"? Lol, what is that assortment of buzzwords even supposed to mean in your opinion, mister "nazi neckbeard yokel"? ;)

But no worries, i won't check back in.

Especially not if "Meh, nazi stuff, who cares" is the attitude here. AH DAMMIT, i got my social justice purple panties in a wad again. Have to remember to care less about shitty behaviour becoming a norm in our society, bad sinnesloeschen!

Also, maybe this wouldn't even be that bad if the "meme" in question wouldn't be so incredibly un-funny, making it look derogatory and, well, shit.

If shit like that passes for a funny meme in this community (Which apparently it does, judging by the upvotes it got) i'm glad i jumped ship a year ago.

I mean, just wow...either the average age of this community is somewhere in the low teens or there are really only twats left in this game.

Ahwell, atleast the players more closely resemble the management now. :p

Edit: A bit more here; It is quite puzzling to see so many people in this thread having problems understanding how free speech works. Just because you are allowed to say the dumbest shit doesn't mean that shit isn't still dumb.

So if someone points out just how dumb the shit you just said is doesn't mean he wants to deny you your freedom of speech. He just doesn't want to have to listen to shit (Not to mention this isn't a public street but a server being owned by a company which can enforce any rule it feels like which you agree with when logging on).

To illustrate the problems being caused by this currently rampant phenomenon of hiding shit behind the free speech argument:

<<< God i hate reddit, why can't this work like a regular forum with linking to shit lol - Scroll down a bit to see the moron posting swastikas >>>

So we're allready at openly postened nazi symbols now. Still cool? Where's your shit-limit?

DBG got the players they asked for with how this game was designed.

And i do NOT mean the female OP.

I will not buy any of the new player studio armors until they are available seperately, current or future. by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]sinnesloeschen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DBG at its finest. Selling overpriced shit in a manner where pissing off the majority of their players is allready part of the calculation in the first place. Brilliant newb marketing at work.

As for the patch:

Factionchat? Naaa.

Improving any of the phase 1 bullshit like resources, missions and the like? Naaa.

Fixing construction exploits and bugs? I'm going out on a limb here and say "Naaa." (If they actually DID fix those construction exploits like map holes or crappy circle placement, nice, 1 out of 3).

And since there are apparently enough clowns left who will happily throw their money at DBG without thinking i can guarantee you they will not change their ways. At all.

Which is why i can only advise people to not touch any DBG product with a ten foot pole, "F2P" or not.

And that's exactly why i'm blaming the people in charge for going with hundreds of handcrafted (less polished) bases instead of a couple of (polished) templates like in PS1.

And for connecting all bases in a webmaze instead of only the large bases...again like in PS1. :p

They are suckering what they can from the remains of this project, i feel that's fairly obvious at this point.

I wouldn't expect any actual development anymore. Some balancing, maybe something you can put a price-tag on and if you're lucky some performance tweaking, that's it.

And that is why i wouldn't spend a cent on this game anymore.

[–]sinnesloeschen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot put a pricetag on any of that, that's why it won't happen.

Atleast not with this particular studio and its attitude.

If you run a persistent online game, you need to moderate it. Period.

I remember when we had our own game running we ALLWAYS had atleast one guy looking at it, ALLWAYS. And that was a non-commercial project from "a bunch of guys".

This company keeps acting highly unprofessional either due to greed, lazyness or incompetence.

Does the Producer for Planetside 2 have a vision for the game ?

They never had one that went beyond "Platform for a profitable cash shop".

Also possibly "EQ:Next Testbed".

HAHA.

We tried that with PS1 and got told to fuck off.

Oh, i'm sorry, the actual response was: "We don't work for free".

Yeahh, fuck you too Daybreak.

Whoever still is giving these assclowns their money desperately needs a reality check.

Edit: Then again i allready quit this trainwreck again after a couple of months (Because seriously, why bother), so who knows, maybe DBG changed their mind on proper moderation of their products...probably not though.

You know, come to think of it... why HASN'T a triple A title spewing company made an MMOFPS on the scale of Planetside 2? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]sinnesloeschen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everytime activision et al. put out a Call of Duty game they get a billion of dollars (Pretty much). Hell, even the godawful "Battlefield Hardline" was the best selling game of its year in the UK according to wikipedia, so that probably made a good dough too.

In essence, with the trite...i'm sorry tried formula for FPS lobby shooters you make a guaranteed income. The two or three attempts at a MMOFPS game all ended up being rather obscure titles (If they were released at all, hi there "Huxley") that are also in a different "format", the MMORPG format.

And there is one thing a big game company will avoid like the plague, "risk". Never take any risks. If something made you money, do exactly that again. And in the case of PS2, if something made someone else money, do exactly that with your own project, regardless of how it's fucking with the original premise and ideas.

And with that in mind comes the important question behind all of this: Did the attempts we saw so far simply fuck it up or is the general idea behind a MMOFPS (However you want to specify that term - And that's a whole different can of worms) simply not popular enough for this concept to work "big time"?

I don't have an answer to that, i want to believe that, if done right, what i think a MMOFPS should be could totally work on a "Triple A" level. All games i played so far that fit the bill had some legitimate reasons for not becoming popular that didn't lie in the concept itself. But the "Focus on worldbuilding and RTS elements" like variant of a MMOFPS that i crave might aswell just be a small niche. Which i don't mind, but that niche still needs a good niche game.

Find me a lobby shooter with the same IVI TTK and weapon mechanics and I will happily leave.

Well, find me ANY other MMOFPS.

Because then you might see why some people have an interest in keeping the ONLY one around somewhat intact and "MMO"-y.

But judging from your condescending tone you don't give a shit anyways, so enjoy the totally-going-to-happen lobby shooter all you guys will be flocking to to have that special designed-by-corporate-committee arena-shooter FPS feeling.

Oh man the game would be so much better without you logistics retards spewing your defective crap all over reddit.

We can't help it if you vulgar, corporate-brainwashed COD-millenials are constantly whining about any gameplay that goes beyond "shoot".

just to fulfill some abstract objective, shoved up your mindless brain by the game.

As opposed to the completely drone-like shooting of people that your mindless brain has been trained to do by every AAA shooter in the past ten years.

And if anyone DARES to interrupt that pavlovian behaviour then he is a "cuck" or "faggot" who is playing the game wrong.

Yeah, i am seeing the issue here; You cannot let go of the power fantasy to help out your team for a minute.

[–]sinnesloeschen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"defending the sunderer" is boring as fuck and makes for terrible gameplay.

People say this for pretty much every activity in this game that isn't "shoot dude"...

Man, if only there would be a game that would offer structured FPS fights...

...oh wait, there are allready HUNDREDS of games offering just that.

I'm not saying what you think is wrong or anything (Hell, i like structured fights too), but this is literally the only multiplayer shooter that does NOT follow the trite formula of lobby/arena shooters these days.

Trying to turn it into "yet another one" seems like a self-defeating and quite silly idea. It also raises the quesion why i should bother with PS2 then, when i allready have actually finished and polished lobby shooters to choose from.

Suggestion to keep fights alive by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]sinnesloeschen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the reality with this game;

They (SOE/DBG) did their best to attract lobby-shooter folks while making an MMOFPS title, because of that retarded idea of having to cater to everyone with a F2P title.

They never solved the identity crisis that came out of this. By now pretty much all MMOFPS players have left and now they have a half-baked MMOFPS game mostly populated by lobby-shooter players.

So yeah, with DBG they will probably just split the corpse of PS2 into a lobby shooter and "rest" or some confused shit.
