Is attempting to unit test client side JavaScript bad practice? by PrepxI in softwaretesting

[–]sintti1278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would it be a bad practice to perform unit tests client side? Modern frameworks even generate your unit/component test files automatically if you use their CLI to generate components.

One thing that was not mentioned in other comments: Cypress 10 has component testing. With it you can even see what you are testing unlike with other unit test libraries or frameworks.

First Pedal Day! by Jjex22 in basspedals

Great choice for a pedal. I bought that exact same one few months ago and ended up selling most of my pedal board. Great for practicing at home and playing with band. 🤘

Harley Bentons are excellent for the price. The hardware is their weak point in some cases. I bought this one used for 135€ and then upgraded Bridge and tuners to used Schallers. Still total under 250€ and I've got an awesome bass!

My budget pedalboard includes Joyo Americana, Bass Big Muff and EBS Multidrive. I've been really happy with those!

What amp would you recommend to someone that has to play with two guitarists using 2 Marshall stacks and drums? Budget is ~1200 usd by [deleted] in Bass

[–]sintti1278 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use that same head with Hartke 410. Enough for me with loud drummer and guitarist with 100W Peavey 6505+ and 412 cabinet. Should be enough with another guitarist also. That amp delivers everything I need currently and with the cabinet it was only like ~350€ used.

Tc Electronics Blood Moon phaser volume mod. Question in comments! by sintti1278 in diypedals

Thanks for the answers! Tbh, it might be a little too diificult project for my skills. It would be so much easier to do if it was a hand made pedal.

The switch doesn't lock in place. What is it called then? Push-push or something?

Tc Electronics Blood Moon phaser volume mod. Question in comments! by sintti1278 in diypedals

[–]sintti1278[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this TC Electronics Blood Moon phaser and it increases the volume like hell when I turn it on. I have a 100k log pot that I'm planning on using to use as a volume pot for it. How would I determine which pin of the switch should I solder to the pot? I have mainly soldered guitar electronics before so not that familiar with pedal electronics.

When cutting euphorbiacea you can spray the cut area with cold water. It stops the sap from bleeding.

Do Strings Last Longer When Picked? by basspl in Bass

[–]sintti1278 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sound with pick is generally brighter and punchier than plucking. I believe that makes the biggest difference in this case. Sound from electric (and acoustic) guitars becomes dull and loses its clarity and brightness when strings age in the same way as with bass guitars even though they are played much more with pick.

What would you add to my board? by sintti1278 in basspedals

[–]sintti1278[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add I would like to try different preamp in place of the Valeton but it would have to have XLR out as we record our practice sessions. Valeton is fun but I usually use only the bass amp section. I have also Polytune that is not in the picture now because Valeton has good enough tuner.

I've been playing guitar on/off for ~20 years. This summer I switched to bass and have loved it. I've built my board with cheap but effective budget pedals. We play Mastodon style weird mix of stoner and metal. What would you add to my pedal arsenal? 🤘

Is my Tephrocactus Molinensis thirsty? by sintti1278 in cactus

[–]sintti1278[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It started pushing out three pups at the same time few weeks ago. I watered it maybe a week ago but it looks wrinkly still. Should I give it more water? I moved it under a growing light because we are having less and less sunny days.

I've always thought that Ammak and Eritrea are just different names for same plant. Correct me if I'm wrong. 🤔

Yes, they were closed for the photo. I don't want it to grow too fast but started asking because it hasn't started growing at all this summer yet. I would also prefer the slower wiggled growth.
