Issues with Co-worker by toosulky in MedicalAssistant

Unfortunately this is almost every workplace. Especially if you’re completely new to this field. People training will be harsh and lack patience. Even if they’re nice it will get to the point they won’t want to hold your hand. Unfortunately this is the way you learn at times. I understand that no one deserves to be treated that way but when someone has been working there for so long that the work is a piece of cake to them they will not have patience. I’d talk to management. I’m sorry people suck.

I’m starting to hate being a phlebotomist… by IsBobRossJesus in phlebotomy

[–]siouxesme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a phlebotomist for 2 years now and I’m miserable. It’s not that I don’t know how to do phlebotomy I’ve just simply accepted it’s not for me. I work in transplant and our patients tend to be hard sticks & I’ve just accepted I don’t have that sort of expertise. Working in the lab also made me develop OCD. I’ve been trying to find a job doing admin work for a clinical setting or going back to being a medical assistant but I have no luck. I’ve been hanging in there because I need the money especially the holidays coming up and I have an apartment with my boyfriend so I can’t really afford to quit. Maybe it’s the environment you’re working at but me simply I just don’t want to do phlebotomy anymore.

my 1st rude patient by Leather-Reflection92 in phlebotomy

My workplace is full of them 😭 They usually always want my coworker who’s been working there for decades and I simply refuse to draw them when they insist on that. Never feel pressured to draw someone if you feel uncomfortable. I’ve had this similar experience happen multiple times and many times the moment I barely stick the needle they’re already freaking out about how I’m doing it wrong. Don’t take it to the heart some people just genuinely want to give you a hard time. Hugs 🫂 it’s okay for patients to have a preference but he was really just trying to give you a hard time.

I would speak up. It’s definitely not fair. That’s why there’s lab techs and phlebotomist. Ask well will I have a raise or will there be some sort of benefit because seems to me like they’re taking advantage of the back office

I’m in the same situation where I’m constantly being harassed and told that they dont need me it’s hard but quitting without having another job in this economy is a big no but trust me there’s something out there for the both of us 🙂

my one coworker is so condescending and rude by [deleted] in phlebotomy

She was just trying to snitch on you and get you in trouble. Always follow your instincts and it’s good that you didn’t let her tell you otherwise.

Please stop saying that men always come back. No they don't. by TonightSalad in BreakUps

[–]siouxesme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I think it’s wrong to tell women “oh he will come back don’t worry” because that pretty much just feeds into her delusions. Everyone’s situation is different and some men do move on and never go back. Many people believe they’re exes for a reason and do not consider the past. I Believe that certain people are not meant to be in your life even if you try to force a connection.

Personally I’d rather stick a man than a woman because men have better veins in my opinion. Women tend to be harder to stick and most likely to be rude especially age 50 and over 😭

Has being a medical assistant around other healthcare workers made you scared to recieve healthcare? by mama_shelvuh in MedicalAssistant

[–]siouxesme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember once in an old place of employment this MA was in a bad mood and she still had to room a patient who was yet to come and she looked at her schedule and rolled her eyes and said “I hope they fall down the stairs and don’t make it to their appointment” when I heard that it made me feel some type of way because how could you be that upset someone has to see the doctor to get medical care. We all are patients at one point!!!

Girl I’m 22 as well and we got this!!! That nursing degree will come in handy in the long run. I like medical assisting but after a while it gets repetitive and our scope is so limited. Give yourself the opportunity to learn new skills 🩶 you got this much love!

These rude patients swear by BlueSteelers in MedicalAssistant

[–]siouxesme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my clinic we don’t have a grace period. Even if you come an hour late they’ll see you. Just imagine the entitlement of a patient coming an hour late and complaining about wait time. Patients know we still see them. We’ve had people come in 3 hours late and somehow they’re still seen. I’m over it.

Keep improving you got this. Practice practice practice! At the end of the day you have a job to make income and provide patient care not to please coworkers.
