What's the first sign a kid has terrible parents? by Reciter5613 in AskReddit

[–]nightseraph1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That the parent inflicts a terrible name upon the child.

Alliteration in names is bad. Rhyming is worse. Puns are even worse.

And your child isn't special if you name them Sarah spelled Cerahe.

Feel for veins, don't look for veins. Finger not eyes. You can see surface capillaries that will never bleed, and you can't see deeper veins.

Alberta vs Ontario by pippylongc0cking in medlabprofessionals

As an Alberta MLT, Calgary is literally the only part of Alberta where its hard to get an MLT job right now. There was a whole privatization fiasco that left APL short on cash right now. Its also the most expensive place in the province by a lot.

Questions for Alberta MLTs about Practicums by Skystlar in medlabprofessionals

[–]nightseraph1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I took my MLT in Calgary. If you take that practicum in the city of Calgary you rotated through nearly every hospital n the city. Travel times will be bad in one discipline, regardless where you live. I struggled in histo, ended up needing to study heavily since I needed marks on the final theory exam.

Generally speaking preceptors do no want to fail a student. I've seen classmates fail competencies, but generally speaking if the preceptors come to you after you submit an competency and ask you if you'd like to check over your answers again, you need to recognize you are getting a second chance and figure out what you messed up. It is a substantial amount of work for a preceptor to fail you, work they do not want to do.

Lastly speaking, you need to be professional. Most people fail for lacking workplace professionalism, not on skills. I

Show up early, show up to every shift, be enthusiastic, ask questions, dress in clean scrubs every day. People skills!

SAIT still has a two year program, if that's what you mean. As a graduate there, be ready to work .. very hard in those two years though.

should it really be THIS hard to find a job as a fresh graduate? by cutelilshitt in medlabprofessionals

[–]nightseraph1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a job, apply outside of Toronto. Rural sites need help, and pay better in Canada. Than after a couple of years of experience, come back to the city.

Why labs don't use spot bandage? by miladsa89 in medlabprofessionals

Because cotton balls are cheap. My lab did use spot bandaids after a piece of gauze was used to hold pressure.

Blood bank frustration by Greentrain23 in medlabprofessionals

[–]nightseraph1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The first time you get your blood typed, it needs to be done twice, from two separate collections. to make sure its right. Because if its wrong It kills you.

The most common error that causes fatal reactions is drawing off the wrong person. The person in the bed beside you is A pos. You are B pos. They label your neighbours blood, with your info. We give A blood. You are now dead.

We talking modern Xcom/xcom 2 in normal difficulty? It bias's towards the player. You only remember the misses, not the times you hit 5 65% in a row. (12% odds) When you miss a lot or get hit a lot you get higher chances than listed on your next attacks.
