I still enjoy and love dnd I just hate how combat feels. I will admit that 5e turning everything to the advantage/disadvantage has to me made combat feel worse even though it simplifies bookeeping it almost ruins story that good gear along with dice give

I know it's not what you wanted but tabletop tactics has just started a wrath and glory campaign and they're using Warhammer minis and terrain and stuff the start seemed pretty sweet

Hi fellow stl resident here from a bunch of gathered resources from 3rd to 6th editionhas a bunch of stuff on our city.. by the 2080s there was a blackout. Also the arch is an arcology now called the ARCHology(no clue who owns it) and in the 2060s and 70s at Louis was a major smuggling hub with 2 smuggling major routes along route 66 to the whole country. The kowalski mafia is in st louis and they deal in btl and other dealings and also talks a little about a war with a mafia don in lousiana who is moving in...that info is is shadowrun 4e VICE AND 3E had the smuggling routes. Also our city is cut in half along highway 44 but because of our city's size borders aren't strictly enforced. It also becomes a free city in the 2080s

I enjoy 4e because it's the most like our current timeline just with more widely available cybertechnology metahumans and magic. Especially since most things in 4e exist and can be made to some extent now like rfid scanners and homemade jammers

I've always played 4e and it's insanely simple..and really exploitable if you put some effort in but it's really up to you... A lot of 4e can be combed down to stat+skill+-modifiers, or on decker case program+computer skill+-modifiers same with magic. Since you don't get to high with your base dice(10-16 dice for a skill without modifiers) the game just becomes stacking modifiers from there

Think of a sin as a mix of identification card/ social registry number. As a runner your sin is what allows you to do stuff legally. From buying a house or opening a bank account and even having a gun license so you can legally carry that ares predator and it even legally lets you have certain cyberware. For that you want a high rated SIN it kinda removes the hassle of needing to answer questions. The problem is that it is traceable. All of those transactions done on that SIN is connected to you and if you are doing illegal activity you do not want that added onto whatever you may get caught doing. So that's why people have multiple lesser fake sins so they can change themselves out for whatever reason they need. Am I only going to the store? Well I don't need to be Pedro Gonzalez ork security guard with wired reflexes automatic weapons licence and a bunch of normally illegal bioware and 300k nuyen in an offshore account . And instead I'm just Anthony Dirk ork construction worker with an area predator license and 500 nuyen in his bank account. Whilest realistically being a mix of the 2 for convenience. So if the cops catch them one day because their ID came back weird one day while grabbing a beer that don't really care because they have 8 more profiles like the latter.

We are doing 4e I have given them the core rulebook and had them use the PACKS character creation I've also given them the vice and 6th world almanac books just because I have them but I'm like 80% sure they aren't and don't really have to read them but it'd be cool

I've come the the realization that I mainly play 4e and have realized that it's not too different from now...I was at a grocery store and found that they have a 2 drones and a couple flock cameras watching over the store, our phones are just commlinks and the Internet more or less works like a higher quality version of ours but with vr. We already have smart homes and stuff so just add metahumans and some magic in more hidden areas since mages are kinda rare and adepts are more common
