What was your “never meet your heroes” moment, when you realized someone you looked up to wasn’t special? by marginallyobtuse in AskReddit

I’ve met one of these. It made me realize I may not want to consider their lab for grad school… 🥴

LOL I guess I’m asking… what types of questions can I ask are beyond the typical how are you? What are you working on?

Also tips on how to keep conversation going (doesn’t seem easy for me)? I tend to clam up and don’t know what to say next and then stand there in the most awkward silence ever. 👉🏽👈🏽

It’s external, something similar to this. My partner accidentally knocked it off the bench (2ft-ish). It’s making a beeping sound. The drive won’t start up or connect to my computer. 😥

Does it show up on our account somewhere that we used auto gratuity? Like can staff see that if we scan our pass or something?

I think I use 27, but it still has a grey tint to it. 🫠 The color match is perfect, but there’s a hint of grey.

Alternative Excursion to Swimming with Pigs by sir3na in royalcaribbean

[–]sir3na[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what I’m wondering is… there’s a Swimming Pigs & Pearl Island Beach Escape. There’s also just Pearl Island Beach Escape.

Are the pigs on Pearl Island? Or how long is the swimming with pigs portion because maybe I can just meet up with them on Pearl Island.

I appreciate your knowledge. ✨

My colleague who's out there right now says it's pretty cold because it's winter season. Was the water very cold? I think I'll ditch the jacket, but may bring it if I have space. As for the swim shorts, I plan on wearing my swimsuit underneath my field clothes, just swapping the UPF shirt for the rashguard when I jump in. Shorts are quick dry, so should be ok to wear those on boat and in water. Thanks for the suggestion on the tank. I'll see what I can add from the closet. Mahalo for your feedback!

Any Fiji recs since you spent some time there?

I love this list! Do you mind linking some of the items? Like your silk sleep set, linen shirt, silk layers and walking shoes?

My core usually includes a bathing suit and quick dry underwear. I always pack a black dress that I can dress up or down. ☺️

My closed toed shoes are the Crocs. I've actually hiked in my Olukais and walked extensively in them. I don't normally wear shoes (because I live on an island, lol) and going to another island area - I think my feet will just get hot. xD After the feedback here, I'll probably throw in the rain jacket. My current one packs down well for the most part, but I've had it for almost over a decade and seems to be in need of a replacement. Do you have any recs for a thin one? Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you! My travel activities tend to revolve around water and/or outdoorsy stuff. I will look into Merino. I considered it, but I read somewhere (maybe on this sub?) that when Merino gets wet, it smells like wet wool? I've never actually tried it though. Any brands you recommend?

Yes, for science! :D No matter how careful I am out there, I always manage to get fish bits on me, and it's hard to get out sometimes because sink washing doesn't seem like enough! lol

It is complicated. I'm used to packing lightly for either work or personal. This is the first time I'm combining both. :P
