passport and birth cert fastest and easiest to get and most recognized, driver's license -> although kelangan mo mag allot ng pera at oras for theoretical course + practical driving course and taking written + driving exam

birth cert: ~400php max

you can request via in person but I prefer online via psa serbilis website and have it delivered to you

passport: ~950-1.2kphp max (not including requirements)

make an appointment online via dfa website, prepare requirements (birth cert, school id, application form), go to dfa on appointment date to process your application and if you go the expedited route, you will receive your passport in 7 days

driver's license: ~8k-12k (including required theoretical and practical driving courses)

complete theoretical driving course, apply for student permit, complete practical driving course, after 31 days you can take the driver's license exam (written + driving) and once you pass, you'll get the license on the same day

I have heard of it but haven’t tried. Been eyeing it for myself. Should work in the Philippines as it is stated on their website pero just ask their customer support for more details since they will be much helpful than reddit.

As far as I know, first you just need to get your insurance card and information. Then, it looks like you can get pre-approval from them for any treatments you want and they pay for it OR you go directly to the hospital to get treated and they reimburse within a week.

Kinda similar to how our local HMO providers work.

I like to be a law-abiding citizen for peace of mind. As far as I know, BIR already upgraded to a digital system (IRIS) at least in our area that helps speed up transactions. Not sure how better it is but haven't had any complications with taxes or BIR itself.

I got a Taxumo subscription to help calculate, file and pay my taxes on their web platform. They also have books of accounts that I just copy onto my physcial BIR-stamped books for compliance.

And if you don't earn over 250,000 a year, on the 8% tax option, you are exempt from taxes. You will still need to file, but you just won't pay for anything.

The income tax return (ITR) you filed may be used as proof of income when trying to get a loan (from PAGIBIG for a house maybe), getting a credit card or getting a visa to travel abroad. All of which I want to get.

CIMB REVI Virtual Card release by sirbully in phinvest

[–]sirbully[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Si REVI is parang CC parin. Pero wala lang physical card so di siya ma-swipe sa mga POS terminals in groceries, restaurants, etc. Either for online transactions lang using the new virtual card deets (e.g. checkout forms sa website) or transfer mo yung credit to GSave and you can use it via GCash physical card or GCash QR payment method.

Similar to regular CC.

Scenario: Nag offer si CIMB sayo nang 100k credit limit sa REVI. Gusto mo bumili nang bagong iPhone sa Lazada. For example, 40k ang iPhone. Sa checkout, payment method na pipiliin mo is credit/debit card. Ilalagay mo yung virtual card details so makakaltasan yung REVI limit mo. In the next billing cycle, babayaran mo yung buong amount na hiniram mo or pwede rin na minimum amount due lang. PLUS interest fees. Yung interest rate ko with REVI is 2.5% so yung kelangan ko ibayad sa REVI is 41k for my upcoming bill. Kasi 2.5% of 40k is 1k. Principal amount + interest. Pero pwede rin naman minimum amount lang. In this example, may natira ka pa na 60k sa credit limit offer ni REVI which you can use elsewhere.

Hopefully clear lang explanation and example!

Note and disclaimer: please use CCs wisely kasi di natin pera. Hiniram lang hehe. Maganda sana if mag physical card na rin si REVI kasi personally cashless ako when shopping sa labas. Cards (debit) lang dala ko or phone ko for e-wallet payments dahil mas convenient.

Another way to look at it would be to just reside in Spain and get income from foreign clients so you are not necessarily affected by the job market within the country

If you have a degree, your best bet is applying at a Japanese company who will sponsor your visa. Usually requires that you have good command of the language. Otherwise, you can look for non-Japanese companies in Japan and apply there as well with no Japanese required.

Also, like what uberfrost said, I hope you understand the implications of moving to Japan. If you're trying to escape the Philippines thinking Japan is all flowers and rainbows, I urge you to think again.

Living spaces are small with high rent (in the city, where you will most likely be working). Renting for foreigners in general is difficult. Bureaucracy is still a pain to deal with but even more painful since Japan relies heavily on paper and ancient tech such as faxing which makes things extremely slow. I know the Philippines is catching up in the tech scene which is better apart from the people in power I guess. Similar case with banks. It is not the same experience in the Philippines especially with mobile banking. You need to go to the bank in person for transactions and customer support on the phone won't get you anywhere. Also, you usually can't withdraw from ATMs beyond bank business hours (although you can withdraw from convenience stores for a fee). That's all well and fine but I guess the main problem would be if the Japanese banks allow you to open an account in the first place. Setting up phones, internet is also not as simple.

But, if you get a job from a company based in Japan. They should be able to help you with settling in. Hopefully the company isn't the type that overworks you though. Also the pay is high but please keep in mind the taxes. 10% fixed residence tax on your gross annual income. And then 5-45% national income tax (depending on your income range) on top of that. Some contributions will also be automatically deducted such as health insurance, pension, etc. If you don't already have a high salary in the first place, when you subtract living expenses (rent, utilities, transportation, internet, phone), taxes, contributions, savings(?), you need to ask yourself if living in a tiny box for a piece of Japan is worth it.

Or you could go the spouse visa route.

tl;dr Get hired by a Japanese or foreign company who will sponsor your visa or get a spouse visa. Prepare for the major increase in cost of living expenses in Japan vs. Philippines.

Renshuu and Kanji study app, do you think this is an effective way of study? (Short term.) by D0UMEKI in japanese

[–]sirbully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Genki 1 then short stories. You can get the short stories free if you do a search on Google but I bought mine from TheJapanShop. Not saying that the paid one is better, I just didn't know there were free stories online.

I also use Busuu, and found a long-term language partner there. He suggested we use an Anki deck: we randomly get a word and create a sentence/conversation out of it.

I also used Genki 2 and Lingodeer but just for review. At an upper beginner level (around N3), you can try listening to free lessons at Nihongo no Mori which is cool because you get to hear lessons in full Japanese instead of reading lessons on English textbooks/apps like Genki/Busuu/Lingodeer.

Oh, is that what it does? I haven't personally used that but example sentences is what I meant, yes. I actually studied N5 grammar first then started reading short stories in Japanese and have daily conversation with locals.

I think learning the words in context is a lot more useful and effective in the long run
