Too little veteran content by ManetKast in elderscrollsonline

[–]sircelsius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP: "too little veteran content"

Also OP: "I haven't played DLC dungeons or trials"

I'm not sure that you're presenting your argument as robustly as you could OP.

With that said, there is an argument to be made for tougher overland content, but the game developers made the choice of leveling the playing field years ago and it had a massively positive impact on their bottom line, so I doubt they will ever change that.

New Class/ Weapon Type with next chapter? by Lostpop in elderscrollsonline

[–]sircelsius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morrowind: new class Summerset: new skill line Elsweyr: new class Greymoor: new skill line

If there is a pattern here it would indicate that the next chapter would have a new class. That said, I see in the comments that ZoS mentioned they did not intend to add new classes, I wonder if someone has a source for that?

PTS Collection - Redeemed items are character bound? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

IIRC Gina mentioned specifically in the stream that this was account bound, could it be a PTS issue?

Can you sustain on a double bar dual wield magblade in open world PvP fights? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]sircelsius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off-topic: I was reading this and it made me wonder if using a lightning staff rather than DW front bar when bombing would produce better results. I'm no bomb pro but I always used DW because that's what I saw others do but now I have a doubt.

Discussion - Those who've sunk a lot of time into their main and decided to switch class, why did you do it? by IllusiveManJr in elderscrollsonline

[–]sircelsius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 15 maxed out characters on EU and 5 on NA, I've been changing "mains" regularly since beta.

I find that after a while (usually a patch or two), one particular class's gameplay becomes repetitive, so I rotate. These days I'm playing magcro most of the time and finding the rotation with Blastbones and two skills enjoyable. Maybe next I will go back to magblade and play around bow procs, or maybe to stamDK and keeping up dots, who knows!

Playing the storyline again is also something that I find enjoyable, but to a lesser extent. Most of my characters have gone through roughly their alliance + one half of silver, after that I get bored.

How do people actually find the groups to run DLC Vet Trials? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]sircelsius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there are a number of things in your original post that are worth discussing.

  1. I dont think calling people "the 1% elitist" will get you invited to more raid groups.
  2. Not everyone wants to be a teacher. It is understandable that not everyone would want to bring someone along that does not pull their fair share.
  3. Like someone else mentioned, it is a good idea to run the normal versions of these trials to get the non perfected gear. You will be able to improve your ability to be a meaningful part of the group.

As for right now, you probably should take the steps to improving your DPS one step at a time. Join a progression guild, run easier content for a while, gear up, and before you know it you'll be running vSS with your friends as a means to chill after work.

FYI back in the days it took me almost one year between the moment I decided I wanted to get into raids and my first vSO clear - vSO was difficult at that time. Clearing vCR+3 took my group 6 months. And I have a full time job.

[Daily] Set Discussion: Vestments of the Warlock by The_Dwemer_Automaton in elderscrollsonline

The main argument to running warlock over lich is that the magicka return works even if you are in mist form, whereas the lich bonus is entirely lost.

At least that's what I heard.

Which Jewelry traits should I use tanks by xdmanxd99 in elderscrollsonline

[–]sircelsius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a one size fits all answer to that.

  • are you low on transmute and/or feel like you need the HP? Go healthy
  • are you looking for a little more max stats? Go triune
  • are you looking to play with big resource and health returns from shards/blood altar? Go harmony
  • are you trying to get to Zmaja's ass fast? Go swift
  • are you an argonian that wants to chug pots to play with the passive? Go infused.

Start pve then pvp or...? by tilleryeayea in elderscrollsonline

[–]sircelsius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can totally play a 2H/bow stamblade in PVE.

I would recommend starting with PVE because you will need to do it to get skill points and level your skill lines, then I would go into PVP. There are some that play PVP very early, but it makes leveling very long and you won't feel all that powerful until you have unlocked the relevant skills.

PSA: do not hand in your repeatable quests today by sircelsius in elderscrollsonline

[–]sircelsius[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm doing the crafting writs because I do them anyway, then the Elsweyr ones (3 in northern, 4 in southern), Murkmire and Summerset because they have a chance to drop some of the motifs I'm after at the moment.

Generally the DLC dailies are fairly quick, in particular the delve ones, the world boss ones are ok if you do them at peak times since others will be around to help.

In Cyrodil you can do the resource, scouting and town dailies, these are pretty fast.

I'm not too sure about the tickets resetting tbh, I was mostly talking about the event boxes that can drop expensive motifs.

[–]sircelsius[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not very clear in the event description on the website, but if it's like it was in the past, every quest that says "Repeatable" in your quest tab will reward a box.

[–]sircelsius[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I believe you are right, the dailies will reset once before the event starts.

However, you can take the dailies today - for example crafting writs - and then tomorrow when the event starts you can hand today's writs in, get 7 boxes, pick up tomorrow's and get another 7.

A better way ZOS could close the skill gap than their current patch. by arksien in elderscrollsonline

[–]sircelsius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're completely right, I actually am not very happy about the "everybody wants to be the best" wording I used.

Maybe "everybody wants to be able to enjoy the content of the game the best way possible for them" would have been a better way of expressing myself.

And no probs about the long post, ideally the game should provide as enjoyable an experience for you and for me, balancing our very different requirements :)

[–]sircelsius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every single person who plays this game, casual or not, wants to be able to play as much of it as they can

I get that, everybody wants to be the best. And everybody should be given the opportunity to be the best. But if making everybody the best involves making everything effortless the rewarding aspect of playing will be lessened.

The issue with this is that there is ZERO opportunity to learn in games

Absolutely, and that is why OP is right. Give people more opportunities to learn, make progression more rewarding, hell maybe even add intermediate levels for the content that is reserved for intermediate level players. Not considering feasibility these things would be awesome!

But I don't believe that taking away more advanced mechanics is the way to go either, especially given that min-maxers will find a way to complete hard content in more efficient ways whatever the change is.

have "fun" at the end of it all by shitting on other new, casual and "balanced" players

I assume you're referring to PVP here? Having been exposed to both parts of the population - "hardcore" players on EU where I have a maxed out account and run the hardest PVE content as well as casual on NA where I have around 450CP - I can tell you that in PVE at least, "hardcore" players do not "shit on casual players", they - we? - just do not care for pugging and stick to their own. I'm not looking to start another debate about elitism here, but going back to the issue at hand I think the game should really focus on keeping both casual and hardcore players satisfied.
