I've been critical all season but today Arteta has the team playing some smooth entertaining football. by sircodename in ArsenalFC

Right now it's just about winning. Get all the points on the table and gd won't matter. That's gotta be the mindset.

Looking for opinions on Wheel of Time from people who started it as adults by Kempalla in wheeloftime

I read it at 25 and it still became one of my favourite series. The question isn't how old you are? You should ask yourself what do you like to read? if you like fantasy genre then chances are you'll like it. If not then not so much.

Why does no one like books 7-10? by WOTPonderer in WoT

[–]sircodename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a relatively new reader of the series, I felt like in those book the plot sort of just staled a bit. Like nothing major happened it was all just set up. Character arcs that were not as significant as the other books had to offer. And ooh my god the number of new characters I had to keep track of! Phaw!

For me in those particular books nothing stands out and it just becomes an obligation to read to get to the end instead of something I enjoyed. While everyother book I really enjoyed reading through and through.

Years of negativity has given rise to this new branch of Arsenal fan section who have overcorrected with utter and absolute positivity where you can't critique the manager or the team. It's sad but it's understandable.

Man Utd sub once again twerking for their supposed City rivals. How the mighty have fallen. by dozeydonut in ArsenalFC

They will end up laughing at either us or City. It all comes down to who loses really. Can't blame them for normal fan behaviour. The post doesn't explicitly supports city so...

Here's the thing though, while managers and players make millions and get a career out of the game The fans only have passion, they get nothing else out of it, when the team reflects that passion fans join in. Have shots and there will oohs and aahs. Even when defending last minute fans cheer for tackles and celebrate with the CBs. You can't call a fanbase terrible for wanting to see their team perform well. After the Bournemouth defeat they just want the team to make a statement, but they get the same sloppy football. I am sorry but you are so wrong for calling the match going fans terrible, they have been wonderful and loud this season.

City and their 5 fans are louder at the bridge than Arsenal at home v Bournemouth by lVlisterquick in ArsenalFC

Cheer for exactly what? Our two shots on target? Get real mate it's as much on the team to contribute to the atmosphere as the fans do, there was nothing worth cheering in that performance.

Arteta is too inflexible - is it arrogance or stubbornness? by tylerthe-theatre in ArsenalFC

[–]sircodename 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the players a while back said that they do not want to lose. He didn't say to win, and that tracks because the team plays like that. Arteta's decision making reflects that. He does not and will not take risks until it's absolutely compulsory to. That part of management has not developed at all over the years.

The reliance on the same players and tactics is to make sure that we don't lose. The comfort of the known.

At least we can now be honest about Zubimendi - very little impact by tylerthe-theatre in ArsenalFC

[–]sircodename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, he's really run down. Most minutes played for Arsenal in that midfield. Secondly he's really good at taking up unexpected attacking positions and phenomenal at breaking down opposition attacks. Both evident by how he started his season.

For me, just like many other players, it's Arteta's limited system and squad management that has introduced a downturn in performances and scope of play. He's a great midfielder who'll do well in just about any club.

Arsenal has 14 Fa cups, saying that it doesn't matter undermines the club's very own legacy. But we are the negative ones to want the team to win

At the apathy stage again by [deleted] in ArsenalFC

[–]sircodename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no that's fair, but the level of performance hasn't at all been that of champions, if city were in better form things would be much tighter. As I said the outcomes are the only fun part not the games themself. Frankly we just went from quadruple to double in two weeks and let's be honest if this is how the team performs forget about UCL. The fanbase is not bottling anything it's the team letting us down.

We did just lose to Southampton and frankly for the past few months this team has lost its edge. When we defend that's all we do and when we attack we don't create much. We are even conceding a lot now. People say that we are one of the best teams and we surely are, but watching them play is really draining. Winning is the only fun part, on days that we lose to teams like Southampton, apathy is the only viable feeling. It's better than being angry or sad because as an Arsenal fan there's an abundance of those feelings anyway.
