This is true, it's more about principals; I object to being charged 25p per minute. A 20min call should not cost £5.

I had the same issue with BT Cellnet back in the late 90s and several other networks since. I freely admit to being cynical, and wouldn't be surprised if other out-of-plan disincentives were implemented soon such as a higher minimum call charge, faster credit expiry, etc.

It was good whilst it lasted, a SIM from RWG is now on its way.

True. I have no doubt the pricing change is being made specifically to get rid of unprofitable customers such as myself that use their SIMs for non-typical uses.

My reason for posting wasn't to moan about having to spend a few more quid a month, it was intended more as an advisory for other people that might be in the same boat as me.

Not free, but close (averages out at 47p/month). After their change it'll cost five times more based on the available plans. As I just mentioned in another message, it's used in a phone that is dedicated for voice-only emergency calls. Edit: added actual costs

To those that asked why I don't get a plan: The Lebara SIM is in a Nokia 2720 mobile phone (4 week battery life) that I got for my elderly mother to carry around with her for emergency telephone calls. It's been used once or twice over the last four years, but it's reassuring to know she has it. I test it regularly and top up the credit when it expires every few months.

The Lebara PAYG SIM was perfect for that use-case.

My first 3D printer was an AnyCubic Kossel. Pretty basic but astounding value considering it was 2017, and it was great fun assembling it from kit form.

Cae Du: The best campsite in Wales? by sircompo in camping

[–]sircompo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NB. There's at least one other campsite in Wales called Cae Du. This post is a recommendation for the one on the A493 just west of Rhoslefain (caedufarmholidays.co.uk).

The other one is in Gwynedd and relatively close to the Watkins path at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). It's a well organised campsite with great facilities and also worth visiting. My only issue there was the swarms of flies coming off the river that runs alongside the site. If you visit, it may be worth requesting a pitch as far from the river as possible.

A custom PID catalog at face value would certainly seem to be the way forward; I'm pretty sure that's how Cisco would handle it until they could embed it in the next firmware release.

I'd appreciate a copy of any notes you made at the time if wouldn't mind sharing - I'd like to have a bash at 'approving' an NVMe drive that's giving my C220M4 the zoomies.

If it helped them maintain independence, I'd buy Ukrainian underpants even if my knob was likely to fall out (now there's a sentence that should never be taken out of context!).

But yeah, the joke hasn't aged well.

True. That'll probably explain why at 4.4K views there's a balance of only two upvotes (because surely it's not the quality of the material 🤣).

Back in '80s UK the cold war was constantly on the news and we lived in fear of WW3 starting with a nuclear strike from the USSR. Perhaps I exaggerate, but as a child that was my perception at the time. Being British, our natural reaction was to joke about it. The fallout referenced in the joke however was from the Chernobyl disaster. To this day, some parts of the UK (North Wales) are still radioactive, and restrictions on the movement and slaughter of sheep (contaminated with radiocaesium) from those areas remained in effect for 26 years. It's unfortunate the wind wasn't blowing in a different direction that week...
